It's my great pleasure to officially announce our third Achievement Apex Sponsored Athlete, @jakobparr!

Jakob’s journey started back when he first stepped into a gym at the ripe age of 14 years old, weighing just 50 kilos.

He hated being the ‘skinny kid’ and wanted to fill out his frame.

After years of training, he was able to gain muscle, fill out his frame and gain a substantial 40KG. And that was when he fell in love with the process of getting stronger. He decided to compete in his first novice powerlifting meet at the age of 17, and has been obsessed with the sport ever since.

Since that first novice competition, he has prioritised personal improvement in every aspect, and purposefully organised his life so that he can consistently achieve more and compete at least twice per year. In doing so Jakob has been able to increase his total from 540KG in 2019, to 730KG in 2022.

When asked about some of the setbacks he’s endured throughout his career, Jakob replied, “I’ve been fortunate enough to not have any major setbacks. During life’s biggest challenges I’ve still been able to prioritise training since I know how much it plays a part in maintaining my mental health.”

This is perhaps one of the things that contributes to Jakob’s success. He understands the importance of maintaining his physical and mental health and as a result he’s able to avoid injury and continue progressing when other’s need to take time off.

Jakob’s proudest achievement to date is totalling 730 at GPC Nationals in September 2022 with a 302.5KG squat and 285KG deadlift, and he’s even more proud of being able to turn his biggest passion into his full-time job by sharing and teaching the sport to a massive team of his own.

For as long as he can remember, Jakob has had an unyielding self-improvement mindset. And he claims that is what motivates him to continue chasing his goals. He has an unwavering belief in himself and is endlessly grateful for the belief and support of those around him.

Jakob’s biggest goals in powerlifting are:

1 - To total 800kg as a 90kg Junior in 2023

2 - 900KG total within 5 years.

3 - Ultimately being able to total 1000KG+ whilst remaining healthy

545lbs pull at a perpetual 175lbs bodyweight 😂😢 This was done at the end of a 2 month hypertrophy mesocycle and I’m currently feeling the most fatigued I’ve ever been in my life. 🤷🏻‍♂️
-
I still need to work on not letting my chest drop and pushing off the floor with my legs and not relying on my back to get the bar moving as @steficohen pointed out to me so this is something I’m going to drill heavily in the future.
-
Amazed I’m still retaining my strength on deadlift after significantly reducing my volume on deads and not going below 6 reps 99% of the time over the past two months
-
Excited to deload and take advantage of these gains in my upcoming strength mesocycle. Phase potentiation for the win😤💪🏻

Hyped to start a strength mesocycle in December. I’ve missed the RPG game-like euphoria strength gains give me. Y’all ain’t seen nothing yet #winteriscoming

Who we are and where we are going is determined by our actions. Thoughts become things. Let your actions be a manifestation of your thoughts. Be the best version of yourself.
