Six years ago today, the East Troublesome Fire made one of the most remarkable runs in modern Colorado wildfire history.

In roughly 24 hours, the fire burned more than 100,000 acres, driven by extreme winds and critically dry fuels. It moved across Grand County, impacted communities around Grand Lake, and even crossed the Continental Divide into Rocky Mountain National Park.

For anyone who has spent time around wildfires, it’s pretty incredible to think about that kind of fire growth, especially in late October at elevations where snow is often already on the ground.

Fire has always been part of these landscapes, and while the scale and speed of this event were extraordinary, it’s important to recognize the role fire plays in shaping and regenerating our forests.

Unfortunately, hundreds of homes were lost, along with two lives. That’s the part of these fires we should never overlook.

Six years later, the landscape is changing, with new growth emerging across the burn scar. It’s a reminder of just how powerful fire can be, but also how resilient these ecosystems are.

Calling 911 isn’t a wildfire survival plan. 🐻🔥

Firefighters will do everything they safely can to protect your home, but what you do BEFORE a wildfire can make all the difference.

Home hardening and defensible space aren’t just about protecting your property. They’re about giving firefighters a fighting chance.

So here’s the question: How much responsibility should homeowners have when it comes to protecting their homes from wildfires?

Let’s hear it. 👇

PSA: Slow down when it rains. It’s time to check your tire tread. Pay attention to traffic slowing in front of you.

Today, the community came together to say goodbye to Ryan Cutter as he made his final drive home.

Ryan was one of the pilots who tragically lost his life on September 20 while supporting firefighting operations on the Dome Fire in Yosemite National Park.

Today was about bringing Ryan home.

Friends, neighbors, firefighters, members of the aviation community, and people who simply wanted to show their support lined the route as the procession made its way to Summit Park. It was an incredible display of respect for Ryan and of support for his wife, Nina, his family, friends, and everyone whose life he touched.

Ryan dedicated himself to aviation and to supporting firefighters on the ground. Like so many wildland fire aviation professionals, he went where he was needed and worked above some of the most challenging environments in the country.

For those who knew Ryan personally, he was far more than a pilot. He was a husband, family member, friend, and someone whose personality and friendship left a lasting impression on the people fortunate enough to know him.

Seeing so many people come together today was a powerful reminder of just how many lives Ryan touched.

Ryan may have made his final drive home today, but his legacy will continue to travel far beyond the mountains of Utah and the fires he flew over.

Our thoughts remain with Nina, Ryan’s family, friends, and the entire wildland fire and aviation community.

Welcome home, Ryan.

Rest easy, brother. You will never be forgotten. 📸 U.S. Forest Service Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest #rip #neverforget

The Salt Lake Bees are asking fans to vote for the Utah Dirty Sodas as Minor League Baseball’s Best New Alternate Identity for 2026.

The identity quickly became one of Minor League Baseball’s most recognizable new alternate identities, featuring the introduction of Swiggy, custom uniforms and merchandise, weekly promotions and a variety of activations at The Ballpark at America First Square.
