Humanity cannot look away from Alaa. He is just 18 years old, an orphan living with muscular dystrophy. His condition is deteriorating after more than three years without proper treatment.

Alaa urgently needs a medical referral so he can access the specialist treatment he desperately needs. His condition is worsening, and every day without proper care puts him at further risk.

We are calling on humanitarian organisations, medical organisations and anyone who can help facilitate his referral to urgently intervene. Alaa cannot keep being left without the care he needs.

15th October 2023 was Global Handwashing Day. Its slogan was “Clean hands are within reach.” In besieged Gaza, Palestinians were being forced to choose between washing and drinking.

“Every day we think of how to get water... If we bathe, we won’t drink,” 23 year old Esam said.

OCHA estimated just 3 litres of water per person each day: for drinking, cooking, washing, everything. Israel had cut water, electricity and fuel; airstrikes had damaged wells and pumps. Gaza’s last functioning seawater desalination plant shut for want of fuel. Sewage treatment was collapsing too. Israel’s partial reopening of one pipeline in eastern Khan Younis could not undo the catastrophe.

When civilians are denied water and sanitation, dehydration and disease become foreseeable consequences. This was collective punishment, not an accident. By cutting water and fuel, Israel turned that vulnerability into a life-threatening emergency. Its international backers had been warned what would follow.

💔🇵🇸 Winter is coming, and our tent roof is full of holes. I'm terrified of what will happen when the heavy rain begins. 🥺😥

Awareness got us here, but direct action is what gets aid to families today.

As a woman from Gaza who lives alone with her four children, the sole breadwinner for them, and the one responsible for them after I separated from their father and he did not know them, she has many burdens such as: house rent, electricity and water, food, clothes, education, study, housing and keeping them from becoming homeless, treatment, and many obligations. I have become in a bad situation. I have started buying less food so that I can collect any money for the house rent so that we do not become homeless. My heart breaks for my little son because I am unable to meet all his needs or provide delicious, satisfying and sufficient food every day. I am knocking on any door for help. I am trying to find people with pure hearts and good consciences to help me. I ask anyone who is able to help me to take care of my campaign, even if it is a simple thing. Please do not ignore me, you are my hope 🥺❤️
