At this week’s OHSAA Division IV State Track & Field Championships, seniors Brian Ankamah ‘26 and Chris Hill ‘26 both closed out their respective prep careers.

Brian, the district and conference champion in the shot put, tossed a 52-08.25 to place 10th overall in his final throw against the best competitors in the state on Thursday.

Chris raced in the 3200m and 1600m — in which he won the league and district crowns, respectively — placing 17th (11:26.10) in the first event on day one before finishing 16th in the second race on Friday (4:28.39).

Congrats to both Brian and Chris on standout careers!

Congrats to state track & field qualifiers Brian A. and Chris H. who earned a spot in the OHSAA Division IV Championships! Day one of competition begins today at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium on the campus of Ohio State University. Links to live results, schedule of events, tickets and other meet information can be found at tinyurl.com/yrk88kc4.

Brian tossed a personal-best mark of 53’ 3.75” at the regional meet to place fifth overall and secure a spot at states for the second time in his prep career (last year qualified in the discus). He will throw in flight two of today’s Group B Field Events at 4:00 p.m.

Chris put together a very memorable showing at regionals by setting a new school record in the 3200m (9:36.32 - previously held by Erik Thomas ‘84 at 9:37.50) and a strong outing in the 1600m (4:25.90), both of which he finished sixth overall. He will run today in the 3200m final at 3:10pm and the 1600m finals on Friday at approximately 2:43pm.

Other results for our Vikes from the regional meet included:
Boys: Cody H. - discus - 9th place; 4x800 relay - 10th place; Joza A. - high jump - 12th place
Girls: Morgan S. - shot put - 15th place
