Cheshire: the weirdest and creepiest town in America? This town of 123 people in southern rural Ohio has a HUGE power plant right in the middle of town that spews toxic pollution 24/7. The plant paid $20M to get most residents to clear out—but 123 remain. When I happened to drive through, of course I thought the two squat towers were nuclear. And maybe they are, but AEP—American Electric Power, which is traded on the stock market—has everyone convinced they’re just good old coal burners. In any case, the sight of this sprawling, towering place is profoundly shocking and disturbing. I’ve never seen anything remotely like it. Even its name is aptly creepy AF.

Swipe to see the free programs we have in store for the January 30th Gallery Crawl!* —>

Stamatina Gregory and artist Sharmistha Ray discuss the themes of queer temporalities, cosmologies, and ecological consciousness that generated the conceptual and visual references for ‘Emergent Realities.’ The talk will begin at 7pm on floor 2 of Wood Street Galleries; the exhibition on floor 3 will run all evening.

Brian Clamp and artist Ben Schonberger will unpack the artworks within the exhibition ‘Hi-NRG’ at 707 Gallery and discuss the underlying themes of Schonberger’s creative practice including topics of power, policing, queerness and violence.

Lu and Brian Eyerman of Skyline Ink + Animators take over the big screen at the Harris Theater to present a technical walkthrough of their process “building the unbuilt,” rendering Wright’s unrealized designs for 1940s Pittsburgh. Please join us at ‘Frank Lloyd Wright’s Southwestern Pennsylvania: The Pittsburgh Projects’ on view at 820 Gallery for a post-talk reception.

*The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust’s Gallery Crawls will now occur on a monthly basis falling on the final Friday of each month (excluding April and December). All exhibitions will be open 5:30-9pm with special one-night-only programs announced each month. For full details on this Crawl’s offerings, please visit Crawl.TrustArts.org.

Arranging for installation of a B&W fine art photograph for a client today and got inspired for this week’s Friday Find. Diane Arbus’ B&W fine art photography is on display at the Park Avenue Armory until August 17th.

The Constellations exhibit was curated by the Zurich based Luma Foundation and sanctioned by Arbus’ estate. It’s hard to explain the difference between photography and fine art photography but you will experience that very differnce by viewing her body of work! Score your very own masterpiece by contacting NYC Art dealer Brian Paul Clamp. @brianc_99

Happy Friday! XOXO
