It was so special to celebrate Ecuadorian Independence with my people and our @nycmayor. 🇪🇨

Queens is home to the largest population of Ecuadorian immigrants in the United States. As the first Ecuadorian woman to serve in the NY State Assembly and the only Ecuadorian elected official in New York, it’s my deep honor and responsibility to represent and uplift mi gente.

With ICE terror targetting our communities, and a far-right government undermining democracy in our homeland, it’s a challenging time, but our people will always fight to maintain our joy, culture, and families healthy and whole. We’re lucky to have a partner in Mayor Mamdani.
………………………….

Excited to serve on this powerhouse host committee to support @demsocialistsofamerica & @1199seiuflorida-endorsed candidate for Congress @oliveradamslarkin (FL-25) while he is in NYC!

Oliver is running for Medicare for All, abolishing ICE, and ending U.S. support for genocide and Trump’s illegal war with Iran. He’s not taking any donations from corporate PACs, AIPAC, or special interests, and he is counting on grassroots support to win.

This past weekend, I had the honor of celebrating the Colombian Independence Pride Festival with my fellow Colombian neighbors. As a Colombian immigrant, this celebration holds a special place in my heart because it reminds me of our roots, the strength of our community, and the journey so many of our families have taken in search of new opportunities. It was a joy to spend the afternoon celebrating our culture through music, traditions, and community while recognizing the many contributions Colombians make to our district and across New York. Thank you to everyone who made this beautiful celebration possible and for helping keep the pride of our heritage alive.

NASW NY is supporting the elimination of barriers to licensure for social workers. In a time where social workers are in a highest demand, there needs to be an equitable path to licensure in the State.

Hear from one of the original advocates for the Social Work Workforce Act, Brian Romero, MSW.

¡Que viva Colombia! ¡Feliz Día de la Independencia! 🇨🇴

Colombian Independence Day is always a party at Borough Hall, and our celebration last night with hundreds of our neighbors was no different. What an amazing evening of dancing, food, music and so much more.

To our Colombian American community leaders we honored last night, thank you for the work you do every single day to uplift our families. And to our performers, thank you for bringing the spirit and colors of Colombia to life here at Borough Hall.

More than 100,000 Colombian Americans call Queens home, and we are a better borough for it. Make no mistake that this is a community we will always celebrate AND defend.

Happy Independence Day, Colombia! 🇨🇴

Thank you to everyone who showed up, spoke out, and stood with us. Together, we sent a clear message to NYIC management:

▫️ Voluntarily recognize our full bargaining unit.
▫️ Withdraw the NLRB election and hearing.
▫️ Drop the union busting attorneys!

A strong union means a stronger workplace and a stronger movement for immigrant justice!🫱🏽‍🫲🏿✊🏽

While I can’t be in Washington, D.C. for Sarcoma Advocacy Day, I’m lending my voice in support of the advocates, patients, survivors, care partners, and families working to drive progress against sarcoma. Together, we can raise awareness and accelerate research for this rare cancer.

Shawn was an unforgettable person to the @ionauniversity community the brothers of @deltaupsiloniu and his friends and family that loved him so much. He was a campus minister volunteering and giving his time and continued to give back until the day he died on July 27th 2017 from Intimal Sarcoma

Click the link in our bio to donate in his honor , the proceeds are going to the @curesarcoma foundation in his and @kelly_blue22 honor.
