Taryeom-jill: Coiling. Today’s focus was all about attaching the first few coils.
•
After diving into the technical side of it yesterday, we are taking the coils to the wheel and starting to attach with the intention of this becoming a piece.
•
Up to this point, everything we’ve practiced and made has immediately been cut down and recycled through the pug mill to be reused the next day. I’m excited to build up from here!

Ba-dak: base.

Today’s focus was on making coils and the base proficiently. Both of these components are crucial to your success and just like in normal wheel throwing, when done correctly they make future steps easier.
•
What’s great about a masterclass like this is that we aren’t taking any pieces home. The goal is simply to really understand the fundamentals so that we can nail down the techniques. It’s really forcing me to slow down and be patient because I am not trying to bring a physical piece to life.
•
It took a bit of time to learn how to use the kick wheel proficiently while still maintaining balance and precision. Today we just recycled our work and tried again, tomorrow we start to actually build on — stay tuned!

mama bear 🤍

i waited a lil’ longer to share these and more to come because this lady especially, but all the mamas i’ve been lucky enough to capture deserve to be celebrated on the normal, simple days- as much if not more than the holiday.

my absolute rock. the one who has spent christmas, new years, valentine’s day & mother’s day in a hospital by my side and never once even questioned going home or not being here. who tried jimmy john’s on the back of jay’s truck as her mother’s day- so i could get my first hour of sun & fresh air in a week yesterday. the one who has shown me more about being a good human, an inspiration, a dog mama & an all around incredible woman than i could ever hope to replicate.

here’s to all the moms, but a little something extra for mine because she truly does it all— with grace and patience and just enough joking to make the hardest days, hours and even years/chapters of life brighter and better.

i love you, to the moon and back. 💚 thank you, just… thank you. for everything 💚
