today marks golden guide’s 4(?!) year anniversary, and as i write this, i’m reflecting on what an event like mixed asian day meant to me and what it helped me realize about what we’ve been building these past few years.

these photos are from mixed asian day san diego’s art & design panel, featuring moderator @saintements and panelists @heyannastrong, @mossrandyortega, @juliakestnerdesigns and @aidelenmontoya, plus the afterparty at @monikergeneral, all photographed by @veetography. i think they so beautifully capture what it felt like in that room a few sundays ago.

mixed asian day san diego was a labor of love. from @alexfchester trusting us with what she’s built at @mixedasianmedia over the past few years bringing mixed asian day all over the country, to seeing multiple generations of family come out to support loved ones who were vending, moderating and speaking on panels, to the friends who came to help and support, the whole day felt like the embodiment of the community we’ve been working to build over the past four years.

and what an honor it is to work in community with friends and people you admire.

thank you to the panelists who trusted us with their stories and experiences (especially those sharing for the first time), the vendors who joined and continue to pop up at our events, the moderators who created such supportive and incredible discussions throughout the day, our mahjong club @noambitiontileclub for popping up and hanging out on a sunday evening, and the friends and volunteers who came through to help in whatever way they could.

this event, and golden guide itself, would not exist without all of you, and we’re so incredibly humbled that we can continue to support events like these, create spaces like these and build community together.
