But the best builds, by Lego enthusiasts rather than the Lego group, deserve their own post! Thanks for all your inspiration to think bigger!!

"This ...is the Golden Snitch, and it's the most important ball of the lot. It's very hard to catch because it's so fast and difficult to see. It's the Seeker's job to catch it."

After my last alteration of the LEGO Ministry of Magic set, I decided I wanted to recreate a more faithful representation of the wooden floor in the Atrium. I also bought the Battle of Hogwarts set so I could use these specialised spell elements for the duel between Voldemort and Dumbledore.

I am thrilled with the final result. What do you think?

"The other teachers are all supposed to refer us to the Carrows if we do anything wrong. They don't, though, if they can avoid it. You can tell they all hate them as much as we do. Amycus, the bloke, he teaches what used to be Defence Against the Dark Arts, except now it's just the Dark Arts. We're supposed to practise the Cruciatus Curse on people who've earned detentions — Alecto, Amycus's sister, teaches Muggle Studies, which is compulsory for everyone. We've all got to listen to her explain how Muggles are like animals, stupid and dirty, and how they drive wizards into hiding by being vicious toward them, and how the natural order is being re-established."

- J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

After receiving the Ministry of Magic as an early birthday and Christmas gift from my mother, I immedeatly knew I wanted to make some minor changes to the set. The most important one being the tiled off floor. I knew it would look good, but the end result is just 10x better as I'd imagined.

I added a tiled floor in the court room which was inspired by the movies.

I also added additional minifigures like Bellatrix Lestrange, Pius Thicknesse, Albert Runcorn, Mafalda Hopkirk, Reginald Cattermole, Corban Yaxley and Neville Longbottom. Furthermore I created some purist custom minifugures of Luna Lovegood (Battle of the Department of Mysteries), Ginny Weasley (Battle of the Department of Mysteries), Cornelius Fudge (head swap) and Rufus Scrimgeour (based on his book appearance).

What do you think? Was this a worthy upgrade of the set?

With great relief he finally saw the tall pillars on either side of the gates, each topped with a winged boar.
