a week | version of me My smile may never be the same. Physically due to permanent damage to my mouth following a serious cycling accident in 2022. It was a difficult time beyond the challenges brought on by the pandemic. I carried profund insecurity and anxiety while navigating change and choices. Many times the smiles during these times were derived from a feeling of relief than joy. I was lost when everyone thought I was doing just fine. I needed to reestablish my boundaries and self-belief so that I could rediscover the person I knew myself to be. So began the process of harder choices. I needed to be in a place where compromise was an act of love, not surrender. Here I am standing in front of a mirror. But the true mirror now is my partner. Together we both reflect back in each other, while at the same time expend our vision outward. We face difficulties together, with kindness, and with accountability. You don't need to be healed to move forward. You dont need a perfect face to smile. You are who you are. #cyclinglife

season's colours just got brighter Some mornings you have few expectations, just looking to have a nice coffee ride. But then conditions change and, unexpectedly, everything unfolds as the morning sun rises. Boom. Doesn't hurt when your partner is wearing super nice kit on a matchy super nice bike. (Maybe that was expected). Gorgeous. #cyclinglife

Early morning light hits differently. The glow of a new day before the heat catches you justifies the pre-dawn ride prep. What do you bring to the day? A refraction or reflection or prism of the light of the world? #lightoftheworld #ministersthatride ##ministerswhocycle #jesus retired @bridgebikeworks @blacksmithcycle

city bike Cycling in the city is never boring. In fact, it can be kinda beautiful and fun as long as you aren't set on arbitrary data points like average speed. #torontocycling

End of season. And renewal. Not the way I wanted to end this summer in my first season of cycling, with both my body and ego bruised, but endlessly grateful for all of the amazing support I have in my life as well as the incredible experiences cycling has brought me in this first chapter. We’ll be back. Wiser and stronger.

go anywhere I've been enjoying the Surveyor from @bridgebikeworks for two seasons now, taking it anywhere road and gravel, near and far. When I was in Girona it got many puzzled looks - because it breaks the mold. When in BC, using Vittoria Torreno dry 40s, i explored everything from mountain fire roads to smooth highways. Recently Lindsay has the chance to demo one herself, and right away we are mixing our rides between road and gravel. And not just on different days, but on the same ride. Last week we took the tarmac north with friends, and then the gravel paths back with @nickolas105. She was riding Vittoria 38mm Corsa Control tires to tackle both. It may be a small thing, but its so liberating to create mixes as you go without much worry, and satisfying the curiosity of your partner. #cyclinglife
