On Friday, December 11, BRIDGEGOOD’s 11th Annual Inspiration Awards returns at Salesforce Tower, with breathtaking 360-degree views of the Bay Area, incredible people, live music, and a community we’ve missed celebrating with.

We’re honoring Dr. Lee Lambert and Dana Cho of Pinterest, with TWO more special honorees to be announced!

Emmy Award-winning Frank Somerville / @franksomerville1 will host, Bay Area R&B artist @nettabrielle returns to the stage, and you’ll have a chance to meet select former Inspiration Awards honorees.

For us, this comeback is especially meaningful. The 61st floor of Salesforce Tower was our beloved Wilson Tai’s dream for the next Inspiration Awards. Seven years later, we’re finally making it happen.

And we couldn’t be more excited to share it with you.

This year’s celebration supports THE FUTURE FUND, our $500,000 campaign to keep BRIDGEGOOD’s Oakland studio thriving through 2028, providing students and job seekers with tuition-free design and technology training, mentorship, and opportunities to build their futures.

THIS is what three months of commitment looks like... Purpose to Pixels Product Showcase was wildly inspiring. Watching our apprentices walk on that stage and OWN it, after everything they pushed through to get there, was one of the most emotional nights we’ve had at BRIDGEGOOD.

These are people who came in nervous, unsure, still finding their voice. And on August 14, they stood up in front of a full room and presented products they built from the ground up, with so much confidence it gave us chills.

We watched people who used to freeze up at public speaking take the mic like they were born for it. We watched frustration turn into breakthroughs. We watched teammates step up and become leaders right in front of us. It was everything.

Because that’s the whole point of BRIDGEGOOD. We’re not just teaching design skills, we’re building the kind of space where you can mess up, figure it out, grow, and come out the other side more confident than you’ve ever been.

To every apprentice who showed up for themselves these past three months: we are so unbelievably proud of you. This is only the beginning.

And to the staff, board, and volunteers who make this whole thing possible, thank you for believing in these apprentices as much as we do.

Their purpose became ideas. Their ideas became pixels. Those pixels became possibilities.

There are moments when you realize the work was never just about the final product. Our Purpose to Pixels Product Showcase was one of those moments.

For the past three months, our BRIDGEGOOD apprentices have been learning, building, questioning, collaborating, starting over, pushing through challenges, and turning ideas into products designed to solve real problems for real communities.

Then, on Friday, August 14, they finally got to share what they had built with the world.

And somehow, the products weren’t even the part that made us most proud.

It was the growth.

It was watching someone who once felt nervous speaking in front of a room walk onto the stage with confidence and own it.

It was seeing apprentices push through difficult moments instead of giving up. Watching teammates become leaders. Seeing people begin to trust their ideas, their voices, and themselves a little more.

And then getting to celebrate all of it alongside their families, friends, coaches, mentors, and the wider BRIDGEGOOD community made the moment feel even more special.

Because at BRIDGEGOOD, we have always believed that the work is bigger than teaching someone how to design a product.

It is about helping people discover what they are capable of.

The products they presented may have started as pixels on a screen, but behind every prototype was a story of perseverance, confidence, creativity, community, and possibility.

Now comes the exciting part: seeing where they take these ideas next and, even more importantly, where they take themselves.

We know they are ready.

Ready to create.
Ready to lead.
Ready to solve meaningful problems.
Ready to take on the world.

This is what #DesignForSocialGood looks like.

And as BRIDGEGOOD continues building on more than a decade of this work, we’re excited to soon share more ways you can be part of what comes next. 💙

Our winning UVU Design for Impact 2026 team - Yissella Bringhurst, Mery Deilaire, and Diego Martinez Cardenas - just got back from the trip they won to Silicon Valley where they hit several design museums downtown San Francisco, the @stanforddschool at Stanford University, and UX design for good organization @bridgegoodorg in Oakland! Yissella, Mery, and Diego won first place in our spring semester competition, addressing extreme political polarization through both a physical and digital interactive community exhibit called The Civic Quilt (https://civicquilt.netlify.app). We are so proud of our social design thinkers and can’t wait to see how they further develop their idea and prototype! Join us August 14… We still can't quite believe this happened.

Over the past three months, we've had the privilege of watching Kimberly Jiang and Aaron Luellen grow through BRIDGEGOOD's UX Design Apprenticeship. Recently we got to share part of that journey live on KRON4, thanks to the wonderful Reyna Harvey, who has been such a generous supporter of our work.

Watching Aaron and Kim go from learning the fundamentals of UX design to sitting in front of a live TV camera, speaking about the work they built and who they've become, was one of the proudest moments for our whole team. They did that. And we are just as proud of all 20 apprentices in this cohort who poured the same heart into this program, even if only two of them got to be on camera that day.

Three thoughts keep coming back to us.

Growth rarely feels like growth while it's happening. Our apprentices are heads down, learning, iterating, pushing through challenges. It isn't always until a moment like this one that the change becomes visible.

Real opportunity changes what people believe is possible for themselves. Give someone a project, a mentor, and a chance, and watch what happens.

Community shows up when you invite it in. Reyna didn't have to cover this story. She chose to, because she believes in what BRIDGEGOOD is building.

None of this happens without a lot of people behind the scenes. Thank you to our Executive Director Shaun Tai, our staff Angela, Elisa, and Mubarak, and our Board of Directors for the everyday work that makes this program possible.
