WELCOME TO BRIDGE ROAD FARM 🤎

Figured it was time for a proper introduction around here.

I’m Makaylin, but most people call me Mak. Bridge Road Farm is my happy place, my personal farm, home to my horses, dogs, cats, chickens, and approximately 100 projects at any given time. I grew up riding and competing in the jumpers and later riding and coaching collegiate equestrian.

I’m incredibly lucky to still have both of my childhood ponies here with me, and now I get to navigate a completely different stage of horse ownership as I focus on keeping them comfortable, happy, and thriving in their senior years. Then there’s Rolo, who came home with me from the University of Lynchburg and has turned out to be a bigger blessing than I ever could have imagined.

After spending the last few years heavily focused on school and coaching, I’m finding my way back to riding more consistently again with him. This time around, I’m having a lot of fun stepping outside of what I know, taking dressage lessons, mixing my traditional English roots with the western style I love, and letting go of the idea that I need to fit into one discipline or aesthetic.

My love for animals extends far beyond riding. I work as an equine veterinary assistant and run my own equine and pet wellness business, @NextStrideWellness, as a certified PEMF and Red Light Practitioner. I’m passionate about alternative wellness therapies and how they can complement traditional care. I’m always learning more about nutrition, natural products, herbs, essential oils, and different ways to support the animals in my care.

And that’s really what I want BRF to be. A place to share life with all of these animals, my return to the saddle, caring for horses through every stage of life, things I’m learning, products I genuinely use and love, farm projects, and whatever else we get ourselves into around here.

Glad you’re here 🤎

Worried about how you’d give Summit Joint & Mobility to your cat? I was too.

My cat is a free feeder, so mixing it into her food wasn’t an option. I needed to know she was actually getting the full dose.

I’ll be honest, I expected it to be a fight.

It wasn’t.

This was her second dose, and she came right up when she saw the box. No stress. No battle. Just quick, simple support for her joints.

If you’ve been hesitant about trying it with your cat, don’t be. It’s easier than you think.

Thank you, Summit 🐾

Are your horses easy keepers too?

When horses maintain weight easily, we often feed less grain or concentrate. The downside is they may not be getting enough essential vitamins and minerals due to the decreased feed intake.

After years of experimenting with different supplements, Summit Animal Health has become my favorite. They are veterinarian founded and backed by science. And most importantly, they actually work!

I believe every horse deserves individualized care.

That’s why I take the time to understand each horse before, during, and after every session. Every appointment is tailored to the horse in front of me and includes personalized observations and session notes, so you leave with a better understanding of your horse.

Interested in booking a session or learning more? My messages are always open. 🫶🏻
