Meet Bridget Powning!✨ We were lucky to have Bridget join Community Forests for a second summer, as she brought her fresh perspectives to work on a unique and creative project. Her background in philosophy, politics, economics, and sculpture inspired her to delve deeper into how economics views nature. 🌲💚 Bridget studied anthropocentrism, fractal geometry, economics, and ethics. We have an economic system that often fails to account for things that have value beyond their ability to produce money. Without understanding nature's inherent value, economics will continue to guide our daily decisions in ways that harm our environment. 📖 Incorporating her sculpting practice, Bridget reconciled these ideas and combined ethics and value with human experience. The sculpture she is finishing will be a representation of a human as part of nature. Stay tuned for the final project!

✨ Meet Bridget Powning — our Co-President for the second year in a row! ✨ Bridget is a 4th-year student pursuing an Honours in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics, with a focus on Philosophy. Originally from a small, forested valley in rural New Brunswick — home to just 38 people — Bridget brings a love for art, nature, and community to everything she does. We’re so excited to have her leading the team again this year! 🌿🎨🤝
