September is Alopecia Awareness Month. 💙

I never imagined losing my hair would be one of the hardest parts of cancer. And I definitely never imagined that one day I would walk a runway bald, carrying my wig in my hand, and feel more beautiful and confident than I had before losing my hair.

I spent years wishing I could change what happened to me, wondering why me, and believing poor me. Somewhere along the way I became sick of being a victim and I stopped trying to change it and started figuring out what good could come from it.

Finding @baldtourage helped me see that being bald didn’t have to be something I had to cope with. It could be something I could grow with. Something I could have fun with. Something I could add color and sparkle to. ✨ And most importantly something that I could use to help others learn to find their confidence and celebrate all our unique and beautiful differences. Our “superpower” 💥 right? @abbywrenartistry

Another thing I’ve learned through all of this is that alopecia is so different for everyone. Alopecia is often caused by autoimmune conditions, while mine happened to be caused by chemotherapy. Ironically, one of the biggest pet peeves I’ve heard from women with alopecia is being mistaken for a cancer patient… I’m just lucky enough to check both boxes. 😜

At the fashion shows, I’ve met women and even young girls whose hair loss happened for completely different reasons. Some hair grows back, some doesn’t, some comes and goes, and everyone’s journey looks a little different. But there’s something pretty incredible about standing together with complete love and acceptance.

You don’t always get to choose what happens to you. But you do get to choose what you make of it, and even better you can choose who will be alongside you to grow and glow with you.

Find the good. Find the purpose. Make it yours. And when you can, use it to help everyone else shine. 🩷✨

Happy birthday to the best sister I could ever ask for. And I absolutely begged mom for you 😭

It was such an honor to go with you to Polimoda as you set out to achieve your dreams in fashion design.

We got to visit the Duomos in Florence and Milan, walk through the Holy Doors in the Vatican, sip wine under the Tuscan sun, and wander through Gucci and Ferragamo. Our nights at Genio with our new friends, fried zucchini at Cavallino, cutting out pictures for homework, getting lost in museums, and picking records on the jukebox are moments I’ll never forget.

I already miss our outings and quick meet ups for a caffe, our dinners (that cacio e pepe at Antica 😍), and the little everyday moments so much I can’t put it into words, but I cannot wait to see the future you build for yourself.

I’m so proud of you as you step into this new chapter. Your talent shines through in everything you create, and it’s been amazing seeing you trust it more and more. I can’t wait to see what you do next.

Love you so much, Brie 🇮🇹✨🧵🪡
