What's changing in the way we work? The 1 thing he turns to: human connection. Chris Arruda

We sat down with Chris after one of our Breakfast Networking sessions here in the Comox Valley to hear about the changes he is seeing in the way he works and how it is impacting his clients.

In this clip Chris shares where he turns for support in business as things keep changing. It is human connection, and the phrase he believes in: "the more conversations you have, the more sales you make." Hear Chris talk about how human connection is good for business, and that it can feel good too.

Our chat with Chris is part of a series of conversations we're having with people across Vancouver Island, from different communities and different industries, all centred around one question: what is changing in the way we work on Vancouver Island?

Chris is the founder of Bright Idea Solutions in the Comox Valley, working with small business owners, sole practitioners and freelancers on strategy, branding and the practical side of running a business. @bright.idea.solutions

Built for Change supports businesses to strengthen their people, teams and systems and create the conditions for better ways of working. Human first. AI assisted. Built for what's next. Co-founded by Lori Lynch of Flow Digital and Suzie Read of Suzie Read Coaching, both based on Vancouver Island. Full interview on YouTube, link in bio.

What's changing in the way we work? When AI causes more problems than it solves. Chris Arruda

We sat down with Chris after one of our Breakfast Networking sessions here in the Comox Valley to hear about the changes he is seeing in the way he works and how it is impacting his clients.

In this clip Chris talks about how he has seen AI sometimes cause more problems than it solves for businesses and create confusion. He says he is "becoming more skeptical about what's really possible right now" and about the "hype" he hears around the new models. Even so, he sees the human input into LLMs as really important and predicts AI is here to stay.

What's changing in the way we work? The move toward more human looking content. Chris Arruda

We sat down with Chris after one of our Breakfast Networking sessions here in the Comox Valley to hear about the changes he is seeing in the way he works and how it is impacting his clients.

Chris talks about his experiences with AI in his digital marketing and communications business, and the "move toward more human looking content" his customers are looking for. He thinks AI will continue to be part of our future, but he is sceptical about exactly how much AI can deliver.

Let’s do Berg Lake as a day hike! 🏔️🥾🚴‍♀️

44km with about 1000m of elevation. Split between the gravel bikes and a hike, this was one beauty day in the mountains.

We’ve had this one on the list for years, and it was well worth the effort. 5/5, would crush again.

Somehow, every single time, we leave with so much more than we came with.
We set out to gather people together and talk about the ways that work has changed and learn about the challenges and solutions that businesses are implementing to navigate these fast changing times. What we thought we’d be doing was sharing space and learning about their solutions and how we couldsupport each other. What we didn’t expect was the energy of the room to be so fulfilling and energizing!
We’ve had some great feedback on these and are busy planning the summer sessions. Get ready to mark your calendars. Thank you to our sponsor and supporters and of course all the participants. It’s all of you who make it a success. Sponsor: @prismaticcreativeco Support from: @naturalpasturescheese @honey_grove_bakery @montyclay.vi Phots: @builtforchange.ca

I’m teaming up with Chris from Bright Idea for a one-day workshop on May 23. 🌱

Marketing & Money. The two parts of running a small business that nobody really teaches you.

I’ll be teaching Money In Flow, practical bookkeeping systems for where you actually are right now. Chris will be teaching Digital Marketing Foundations, how the pieces of your marketing fit together and what to do first.

It’s at Gather in Comox, 10–3pm, with lunch in the middle. Limited to 18 people so there’s lots of room for questions.

Earlybird tickets are $199 for the first 5. Link in bio.
