Goodbye undergrad…hello grad school

On April 15, 2026, I decided to take the next step in my faith and get baptized. This year turned out to be much harder than I expected. I thought college would be a fresh start, but it quickly became one of the toughest times in my life. I felt overwhelmed, struggled physically and emotionally, and ended up in ER twice. Those experiences were scary and humbling, and they made me realize how fragile life can feel when everything seems to be falling apart. I felt lost, tired, and unsure how I would keep going.
During all that chaos, I did something I never thought I would do. I went to church for the first time since attending a few summers of VBS as a kid. I didn’t have all the answers, and my faith wasn’t strong yet. I just knew I needed something more, something steady when everything else felt shaky. That choice, even though it seemed small then, changed the direction of my life.
Each week, I started to feel a peace I hadn’t known before, even though things were still hard. As time went on, my faith grew in ways I can’t fully explain. What began as curiosity became something real and personal. Getting baptized wasn’t just a single moment for me, it was a turning point. It meant letting go of the fear, pain, and uncertainty that had shaped my past, and starting a new life built on hope, purpose, and trust in Jesus Christ. My challenges didn’t disappear, but my approach to them changed completely.
Looking back, I can honestly say that this year, as hard as it was, changed me in the most important ways. My life is forever changed, and I feel a gratitude I didn’t have before. What leverage comes next, I know I won’t face it alone, and I’ll always be thankful for that.
Thank you so much @melissapejon and @_smith.ellie for welcoming me into your small group and making me feel loved and like I truly belonged. I’m so grateful I started coming, and I couldn’t be more thankful for both of you. Thank you, @reachbama and @ucc_tuscaloosa for giving me a community and friendships that show God’s love so clearly.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” - Jeremiah 29:11
