Three major wins. One incredible year for Brothers BBQ! Congratulations to all the chefs, pitmasters and teams who made Pig Island another unforgettable celebration of food and community. Seriously it won't be the same at the @foodkarmanyc events without this guy. We first met in 2019 at @brisketkingnyc in epic showdown. But despite our competitive natures, I always enjoyed being around him. Always positive, always encouraging. He liked to say, "I'm rooting for you Rob. I hope you win." Spoken like a true champion. I miss you champ. Staten Island misses you. NYC BBQ misses you and I pray for peace and comfort for your family and little girl. God bless, rest easy. Richie Holmes

RIP @the_real_richie_holmes, who passed away yesterday. Richie was the owner of Juicy Lucy BBQ and a force in the NYC BBQ scene over the years. He won @brisketkingnyc twice (the only person to do so), won @ribkingnyc, and fought hard to bring great BBQ to Staten Island. Richie was a true character who kept it real and always told you what was on his mind. I’ll miss you Richie.

Respect to a friend. @the_real_richie_holmes is the only 2 time winner of our @brisketkingnyc , winning both 2019 and 2021. He also won @ribkingnyc 1x in 2021, and came out to support us several times at @pigislandnyc when we moved in 2020 to @snugharborccbg on Staten Island. He was proud of his achievements as Juicy Lucy BBQ and we were lucky to have worked so closely with him. Condolences to his family and friends. He was a special part of our @foodkarmanyc bbq events crew. Prayers 🙏 ♥ Photo from 2021 1. By Sean Ludwig @nycbbq 2,3,4. By @pattyybrown 5,6,7,8. By Miguel Rivas @thebeertrekker

About halfway through each season, I realize we’ve fallen into the pattern of just robotically posting dates every week. It gets busy, and while heads are down working we tend to forget not everyone knows what we do or how we do it. Our goal is to make the best barbecue imaginable (which is not a goal you ever complete). We just try to beat yesterday. We’ve traveled to learn from people at the top of the game, put in thousands of reps, and have gotten some awesome recognition and glowing feedback which we are very grateful for. But no outside judge is tougher than we are on what we put out. And I’m really proud of where we are. Appreciate all the folks we’ve gotten to know who make this thing possible by enjoying our bbq! Come check us out if you haven’t (or if you have!) 📍Haddon Heights Farmers Market 7/19 & 7/26 Here are a few pics from the backlog
