Saturdays spent with strangers - perhaps this would be the title of my book IF I were to ever write one (which based on how long this caption took me, it will never happen). I have spent many weekends, every year, for half of my life at weddings! That blows my mind. I really have learned so much about life, connection, love, vulnerability, and community from being around the most beautiful humans week in and week out. It’s in the conversations had with guests. It’s the observations made as we stand on the perimeter of the lives of others, watching and listening, anticipating the big moments and the subtle ones too. Knowing when to press the shutter and when to wait a little longer, sometimes stepping in close, sometimes staying back - but allowing the moments to unfold as they should. The love and the joy that lives in every hug and every tear. The moments forever remembered by the way they felt and the way in which we saw them behind our cameras. This job continues to amaze me decades in. It reminds me of all the goodness that does exist despite the overwhelm of the hard stuff that comes with being human. When the world feels heavy, my gratitude for what we do only grows deeper. Weddings are a constant reminder of the best parts of life - that love and joy are everywhere. Sometimes we just need to look around to notice.
