This picture means more to me than most people will ever know.

This was a broken family.

A family carrying hurt, loss, confusion, and questions we didn’t have answers for.

The easy thing would have been to step away for a while. Miss a few Sundays. Skip a few Wednesday nights. Tell ourselves we needed time to heal.

But I remembered something.

When I was 19 or 20 years old and far from God, a man found me at Best Buy. He looked at me and simply said:

“Son, it’s time to find yourself back in the presence of God.”

He had no hidden agenda. Nothing to gain. He was simply a man allowing God to use him.

I didn’t realize it then, but God was planting a seed that would one day help save my family.

When we walked through the doors of FPC for the first time, we weren’t looking for attention. During altar call, we slipped to the back and prayed together as a family, hoping to stay unnoticed.

But then I saw him.

That same man.

Bro. Brian Kinsey.

The moment our eyes met, I saw the same smile, the same compassion, and the same excitement to see us.

He saw the hurt.

He saw the struggle.

He took our hands and prayed over our family.

Looking back now, I realize something:

I wasn’t his sheep, and he wasn’t my shepherd.

But I was still a lost sheep.

And he was still a shepherd who refused to leave me behind.

As I write this, I’m overwhelmed with gratitude.

If you’re walking through a difficult season, don’t give the devil a day. Don’t walk away from God because life hurts. Don’t allow a bad season to become a permanent destination.

Press on.

Keep showing up.

Keep praying.

Keep trusting.

Because somewhere along the way, God has a way of putting the right people in your path at exactly the right time.

And sometimes, the person God uses to help save your future is someone who simply cared enough not to walk past you when you were hurting. #FaithJourney

One year ago today, our family walked through the doors of FPC, and looking back now, we can truly say God knew exactly what He was doing.

This past year has changed our lives in more ways than we could have imagined. Our children are excited about church. They’ve built friendships that we truly believe will last a lifetime. Our little boy has been loved and treated like one of their own from day one, and he absolutely loves Sunday school and being part of this church family.

Our youngest daughter has developed such a love for worship and was filled with the Holy Ghost in kids church, a moment we will never forget. Our oldest daughter has grown so much spiritually, through worship, friendships, and truly becoming part of this church and loving every part of it.

As for me and my wife, God has done incredible things in our lives this past year. We’re now preparing to welcome our 4th child into the world, and we can honestly say we finally found ourselves where God wanted us to be all along.

There was a season where God was knocking, calling us into something new, and if we’re being honest, we didn’t fully listen at first. It took change. It took uncomfortable moments. It took God closing one season of our lives to lead us into the next one He had prepared for us.

Sometimes we don’t understand what God is doing while we’re walking through it, but when you trust Him and let Him lead, He brings increase into your life. Since being here, we have seen increase after increase, spiritually, emotionally, as a family, and in ways only God could orchestrate.

The road to get here may have been bumpy, and not everyone understood it, but we finally reached the place where we said, “God, it’s time for You to lead us completely.”

We are so thankful for everyone at FPC. Thank you for loving our family, investing in our children, and welcoming us with open arms. We are excited to continue growing under leadership that truly cares for people and points families toward God.

We love our church family, and we can’t wait to see what God continues to do in the years ahead. #Faith
