Best birthday gift? Getting to do something I love that I haven’t been able to do in four years. 🍁❤️

For years, hiking Stewart Falls near Sundance, Utah, through the gorgeous fall colors of the Wasatch Mountains has been one of my favorite birthday traditions. Every fall, I looked forward to this hike. But since my reconstructive foot surgery four years ago, I haven’t been able to hike.

This weekend, for my birthday, I finally made it! And what a joy to share this meaningful hike with such wonderful friends, who have supported and championed me through what was a huge life adjustment! ❤️

The fall colors were spectacular. The company was even better. And even the rain and hail felt like a confirmation of the change of season. How ready I am to begin a new chapter!

And yes, despite the weather, I scrambled up the mountainside to get under the waterfall—because some traditions simply must be kept! 💦😂 (No photographic evidence, but I promise it happened!)

I can’t quite express how much it meant to be hiking on this trail again, doing something I love, surrounded by people I love.

What a beautiful way to celebrate another year of life! So grateful for the mountains, for friendship, and for the joy of being able to hike again. 🍂❤️
