Getting them gains doesn’t mean you have to go to the gym and lift weights. You just have to be active and push you muscles in new ways.

I first heard of acro several years ago through Facebook. Then when I was at my first ever @wanderlustfest about to take a class when I saw @yogabeyond walk in. They were kind enough to take a photo with me and the next day I took their class. The rest is history.

If you’re interested in acro a great way to find a community near you is to go on Facebook type Acroyoga and the name of the city you live in or a big city close by

Take Risks. Be Brave. Go out on a limb and trust your intuition
🙌🏼
Core Value 3️⃣ be a Risk taker
I desire to live in an environment where mistakes are a platform for organizational learning. I tend to have a sense of adventure and curious nature but I often try to feel into my gut. In this moment in this picture my mind said this is safe. You are agile and good with balance just approach with slow caution and all will work out. I may not always have the best discernment in every life choice or circumstance but i whole heartedly believe in not living in fear. I get excited sometimes to take a leap of faith and go towards the unknown. Especially when it comes to taking road trips. The idea of no expectations as to how or what it all will look or feel like is thrilling, yet has some trepidation!
To all of my #badasladies out there- can anyone relate?
Double tap if feel me?

My dear friend @janetstoneyoga just sent me this photo from our time in Bali many moons ago. It reminds me that I used to be a bendy ass yogi! I am doing a lot more asana these days and slowly, respectfully opening my back. One of the best things about 2020 is we have time. I used to have a joke with my friends, “I’ll do that in my spare time.” Well jokes on me!!! I have all kinds of spare time now. In my spare time I have been finishing up any first book that will be published in the spring of 2021. Just got off the phone with my editor that saw the first half of my book. She loves it and we are on track! So grateful for @brittarael and @erinkaravan for supporting my writing. That is what quarantine is for me right now, writing, a few private lessons, one free live yoga class, Friday 8am PST and figuring out what to invest my spare time into. What are you all investing in? Any requests of what I can add to my weekly class to support you all? Sending so much love from the Mexican jungle. #moveconnectplay #dancerspose #acroyoga #bendy #natarajasana #quarentinelife

“ it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of believe, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was a season of Light, it was a season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair.” Thank you Mrs. Mattingly & Georgetown Visitation Preparatory School for Girls, & kudos to my fellow classmates from 1987 who also have this quote indelibly sealed in their brains. It resurfaced over the past weeks as I witness that troubled times bring out the best in people & the worst in people. Cue Cyndi Lauper’s “True Colors” as the soundtrack to accompany Charles Dickens’ famous opening to A Tale of Two Cities from English class junior year. I am struck by both the joyful strength & altruistic acts, large & small, popping up in unexpected places & situations contrasted with the short-sighted knee-jerk unkind words & deeds that stop me in my tracks & elicit both sadness & anger. In his 1859 historical novel Charles Dickens describes the era of the French Revolution, concluding with a frighteningly direct comparison to now...“in short, the period was so far like the present period, that some of its noisiest authorities insisted on its being received, for good or for evil, in the superlative degree of comparison only.“ YIKES okay I could go down a rabbit hole but this isn’t english class ~ instead I’m going to ask you to keep the good stuff coming. Share your strengths, make the masks for people, check in on your neighbors, distribute your stash of puzzles, call your friend you haven’t talked to in 35 years, teach your 80 year old parents how to ZOOM, give what you can how you can ~ but don’t cause harm & darkness to fuel the fire of fear & despair. Take a breath before you say something, do something you might regret. Be the best you can be ~ be a Light & a spring of hope in each moment you can ~ one breath at a time. “When your neurological system is in a hyper-stimulated state, often this prevents us from even feeling what Range Of Motion or strength we have available to us.
.
Generally, you can use massage, myofascial release, meditation, and breath-work to affect the neurological system to provide a “reset”, to move away from the sympathetic response into a parasympathetic response.
.
Then it’s important to integrate body-awareness practices like self-myofascial release where we can replicate what we experience in the relationship between the nervous and the musculoskeletal system to help reduce the stimulation and provide relief from pain, restriction, or stress.”
