One year 🌱
After I stopped taking my SSRI’s, and the physical withdrawal symptoms stopped I figured things would become *normal* for me again. That wasn’t the case. It turned dark, I became a shell of a human and for a while this was my new normal. Deep down I knew the person I was, wasn’t truly me. I knew I was adjusting and growing into a life without medication. So instead of constantly trying to crawl out of my skin, I decided to sit in the darkness. I embraced it. I accepted it and I let it in. Because in order to get past it, I was going to have to go through it.

Recently I felt the constant grey cloud begin to lift. The light started to shine through and it became clear. I may always be in some sort of struggle with my mental health, but I’ve learnt how to manage it better. And I know that the dark moments will also always be accompanied with really beautiful moments even if I have to look a little harder to find them sometimes.

For those of you who stuck by me in the darkest of days, I’ll never forget the tiny sliver of light you brought into my world when brightness didn’t exist. Thank you for loving me when I didn’t feel deserving, listening to me cry when life felt unbearable and holding my hand when things got really hard. For the first time in an entire year I feel peace. Peace for where my life is at, and peace for where my life is headed. We have finally made it out of the woods. 🌱✨🤍🙇🏼‍♀️
