The Bohemian Weddings
Book II: The Wedding in the Jungles of Bali (The Trailer)

🩷

One year ago today, 8.8.25, under the Ganesha gates of Tanah Gajah in Ubud, Bali, we were married.

So I'm interrupting the story of our first wedding at Harvard's library to shine a spotlight on our second, six weeks later, in the Indonesian jungle, where we threw a 5 day (or 10 day, depending on how you look at it) festival melding Jewish, Christian, Hindu, & new age spiritual traditions for 140 friends & family from across the world.

If our library wedding was dark academia with a touch of Bohemia, the Bali celebration was a bohemian explosion of color and creative juxtaposition. About half the guests came from @ProfessorNoahFeldman's world: professors from Harvard, Yale, Princeton, MIT, Chicago & Berkeley (among others), as well as those who discover black holes, run global corporations & negotiate peace treaties between warring nations. My guests were wild-spirited avatars of love: globe-trotting mystical musicians, artists, love coaches & shamans. None of them have ever filed a W-2.

The Embassy's goal was to induce these very different humans to become friends, exchange wisdom & open one another's worlds. So we conceived a celebration that embodied our invitation's promise: "Where Academia meets Bohemia, Burning Man meets Black Tie, Bougie Luxury meets Balinese Rain Forest, Mystical Spiritual Vortex meets Rainbow Disco Ball Camp."

Our guests flew 10,000 miles to Ubud, almost the exact antipode of Cambridge. The distance was a feature, not a bug! It gave everyone permission to step out of their worlds & into a new one we created together.

And yes, it was magic. 🩷

POV: the “we’ll leave early tonight” plan lasted exactly 12 minutes 😭✨

Sofia & Ajdin’s after party turned into one of those nights nobody wanted to end…heels off, drinks in hand, everyone screaming the lyrics, fireworks lighting up the sky, and the bride still dancing like it was only 9PM 🤍🎆

This is your sign that the after party matters just as much as the wedding itself.

Would you end your wedding with a classy dinner… or a chaotic dance floor? 👀🪩

Toughest wedding we’ve all ever had to do but with a strong team 💪🏼 (mentally & physically thank goodness 🤪🤣). Grateful for the highs, the lows, the motorbikes, gojek and the sweet souls I met along the way ♥️
