Anyone that knows our musical career & journey knows that I don’t really focus on one specific scene, especially when it comes to our production / creative output @broadcitemusic 💯
We have touched most of the London dance music scenes and seen them grow.. fall .. and some reemerge stronger !!
I have witnessed and navigated through the internal politics that effects them all as artists, Djs and labels are mostly in pursuit of hierarchy, status and visibility 🤩

You will find our music productions popping in many spaces covering Afro House , Deep Tech through to Nu Jazz and Afro Fusion
We keep our musical palette library “BROAD”

But I am happy to put this on record that my favourite music scene over the years has been the ‘Broken Beats’ & Future Music movement .. 🏆✨

People really go with enthusiasm to discover & ‘dance’ 💃🏽boundless expression and the music producers push boundaries that ultimately get replicated and rebranded for other genres without getting the acknowledgment or credits!

Broken beats has been the MOST creative & innovative hybrid genre with unparalleled focus on experimentation I have experienced through out my time in the music industry !!

Music is a soft power 🎶✨..
Many recognise this and use music for elevation and progressive purposes, whilst others use the power of music messaging to lower people’s frequency and conciseness with subliminal and direct messaging in the case of Drill music !!

Mental health research suggests the potential benefits of music in alleviating symptoms in a variety of neurological and affective disorders ranging from depression and schizophrenia to dementia + more
Not to mention the physical benefits of dancing 💃🏽

I think independent platforms that are not restricted by their sponsors should do much more with their platforms and stop falling into the trap of the top 40 curated by major label departments..
There is soo much good music out there and people want to hear it when they are out socialising and dancing..
Club Djs stop being lazy and going for most predictable tracks 🔊 make it 50% fresh 😉🙏🏾
and Uk MCs say something more than shouting 🎤

2024 independent artist and producer hacks!!

As a production house / label owner and independent artist simultaneously most of us have to put on many different hats ‘literally’ to navigate this music industry.

Djs shine and get paid from music that they didn’t produce 96% of the time…

Labels & A&R exploit sales and licensing revenue off music they didn’t produce!!

PR & marketing companies that partner with labels make money sending your music to the same old databases without worthy feedbk or playlist results #

Music magazines partner with labels to champion artists that they want to promote regardless of quality. Regurgitating the same text from archive magazines 🤦🏾‍♂️ saying nothing new !!

Every one eats from the trough and the artist is usually left with the crumbs if anything..

Some of my observations and experiences il share more in order to help the hard working #producers that spend allot of time creating to feed an industry that is full of talentless opinionated people exploiting what they can’t create themselves!! #justsaying

Have to give full props to the Tate gallery ‘security’ on the night!! They started off militant on the door but then Auntie started shocking out to the music 💃🏾 🎶 the beats took total control💯🤩 🤣

This event evening was curated by @music4architecture featuring some great music across 3 zones to celebrate the opening exhibition of the amazing artist @elanatsui.art
