Every year we look forward to working with high school students from @broadreach who come to Curacao to live at a research station, get scuba certified, earn 2 natural science college credits, and join us for the day to get certified in the PADI Coral Restoration Curacao Diver course.

During the course we teach the students about coral ecology, coral restoration techniques, and then they get hands-on experience in nursery work and coral outplanting.
This summer we certified 24 Broadreach students who helped us clean coral nursery trees and outplant 144 Staghorn corals onto eight bambo structures in front of Mambo Beach💪

By connecting young people with coral reefs today, we’re helping grow the marine biologists, conservationists, and passionate reef advocates who will protect our oceans tomorrow.

🌊Thanks to Broadreach and their enthusiastic and curious students for helping us maintain our nurseries and outplant nursery-raised corals back onto the reef!! 🐠

We look forward to working with more student groups in the future!!
Thanks to Andrés Rojas from Broadreach for the awesome videos.

The Sicklefin Lemon Sharks are serving so much attitude. 💁‍♀️🍋🦈

Our visiting lemon sharks are mostly females, and every single one has a personality that’s larger than life. If you watch closely, you’ll spot the biggest female confidently controlling access to the feeder—this is Wanda, the matriarch of the lemon sharks. She can be identified by the distinctive white growth behind her right gill slits, and she never waits her turn is she can help it!

Teaching somebody is touching a life forever!
🪸
A few times a year the travel organization @broadreach organizes educational (summer) camps to Curaçao.
The kids learn to dive, they learn a lot about the island, sustainability and marine life.

And a visit to Lionfish Caribbean is always one of their highlights 😍

They get their hands dirty, enjoy a fresh LionDish and bring home a cool piece of jewelry to remember their trip!

If you have kids and want to broaden their horizon, look into @broadreach

A huge thank you to the BroadReach students session 3 and to the Think Pacific international volunteers, for attending our Shark & Ray Conservation Workshop.

Not only did you give me the opportunity to share my passion, but you reminded me why education remains one of our most powerful conservation tools.

Every student and every volunteer who leaves with a new appreciation for our oceans becomes another voice for conservation.

The future is in good hands. 🦈💙🌊

Character development, one poop pile at a time. 💩✨

Our BroadReach students showed that caring for rescued horses isn’t just the fun parts. It’s showing up, getting your hands dirty, and doing the jobs that keep the Sanctuary running like a well oiled machine! 💪🏽

Vinaka Vakalevu 🙏🏽🙏🏽 for spending your Community Day @horsesanctuaryfiji 🐴🐴🩵💙
