ATTENTION MUST READ💜💥!! This weekend Coach Lear and the Purple Fever Hoops were set to play the MT Elite Ducks in the Select Events Tournament in Atlantic City, NJ. While passing out Sideline Cancer bracelets to raise awareness for Pancreatic Cancer, Coach Allie Scarpa (Pictured above with Coach Lear) had tears rolling down her face. It turned out that her former player and best family friend, Priscilla Bonica, is currently battling Stage 4 Glioblastoma at the age of 19 years old. Bonica was a star 3 sport athlete in high school, set to play college hoops at Westfield State University before her life was turned upside down in July of 2021. Just like the story of Greg Griffith after his diagnosis with Pancreatic Cancer, Priscilla’s community was quick to rally around her and the Bonica family. A tradition was started as a result for Priscilla. At 8PM every night, the community has a “Moment of Prayer” for Priscilla as she battles brain cancer. Sideline Cancer and our community will be having a “Moment of Prayer” tonight at 8PM, extending the support for Priscilla to our community. The power of positive energy is palpable and there will be more to come on this story. This is Bigger Than Basketball in action… Believe Always💜

Over the past month we have played in honor of a loved one who has passed from Pancreatic Cancer, LuAnne Varacallo, gained inspiration from Lieutenant Colonel Erik Nordberg and his Bigger Than Basketball act in saving Sideline Cancer TBT legend Maurice Creek from war torn Ukraine, and today we played in celebration of the triumph ESPN Legend, Dick Vitale, has had over cancer, ringing the bell earlier this week. Dicky V has always been a cancer warrior and embodies the same “I Can Attitude & Believe Always Spirit” these athletes demonstrated at the Western PA Bruins Tip-Off Tournament this weekend. To share in this moment, we had our friends at the Central, PA Dynamite join the picture, along with the Cincy Heat Premier, whose head coach is battling cancer. While we are all fierce competitors on the court, we are all working harder off of it to see Dick Vitale’s dream come to fruition one day as we find a cure for cancer. Believe Always💜
