These are the organizations showing up for Brooklyn every day. Fighting for immigrant and workers' rights, supporting veterans and families, empowering young people, expanding access to the arts, and so much more.

And this year, we're doubling down on our support. 💙

In honor of the Spark Prize's 10th anniversary, Brooklyn Org is matching up to $10K in donations to each of our 20 finalists through Brooklyn Gives. That's $200K in matching funds to support their work across the borough.

Representation matters 🤎

I grew up hating my hair, especially as a dancer. I straightened my hair for years because “it was easier to manage.” Almost 9 years ago, I made the decision to wear my beautiful 4C hair, and I realized that with my natural hair, I can do any style.
I’m so happy that this little girl saw herself in me. 🤎 It means so much to me knowing that she could look at me and see someone who looks like her. 😍🥹

I signed up for what I thought was a 3-Day “Beginner’s” Ballet Intensive and found out “Foundations” was before Beginners 🙃

I had to pull out memories from high school real quick and def had moments of frustration. My body could barely keep up and I couldn’t believe we had learned an entire variation in 72 hours. I am beyond proud of myself for finishing what I started and thank @brooklynballet from the bottom of my heart for being the most supportive environment ever 🥺❤️ would highly recommend picking up new hobbies just because you can 😌

It’s never too late.

Brooklyn Ballet Returns

There are moments that remind us exactly why the North Fork Arts Center matters.

The return of Brooklyn Ballet brings us full circle to the beginning of an extraordinary journey. In May 2024, Brooklyn Ballet took the stage for the Arts Center’s first full-stage live performance, while also spending time in our community working with and inspiring young local dancers.

Now, welcoming them back feels like both a homecoming and a glimpse of what is still ahead.

These photographs capture some of the beauty, energy, discipline and joy of their return to the North Fork.

The journey continues. Stay tuned—there is much more to come.

Following in the footsteps of her brother, Nakotah LaRance, she continues the tradition each year in Brooklyn’s Nutcracker touching the hearts of hundreds of children and adults and keeping a powerful legacy alive. 🌧️✨🩰
