Rarely keep up posting here but this is a busy weekend. I am speaking about my art practice and the piece in the “Witness to Change” show at the Climate Imaginarium on Governor’s Island as part of Open House New York on Saturday. On Sunday my studio is part of the open studio walks happening around the city. Drop a line if you plan to come and say hi.

Groove to Haitian-rooted rhythms from @alegbaandfriends. Alegba Jahyile is a Brooklyn-based musician whose band has been serenading public space since the start of the pandemic (You can also catch them at top notch jazz clubs). We’re honored to have them with us outside the Shuttle.

Gain knowledge from subway historian and illustrator Phil Coppola. Phil’s work has appeared in the New Yorker, the Times, and The NYC Transit Museum, and now… the prestigious Franklin Ave Shuttle 😃 Come browse his exhaustive subway history, intricate handmade prints, and sketches.

Help us beautify Prospect Place with Crown Heights artist collective @fieldmeridians. Create a print out of natural materials and check out their seed library of local plants.

Draw a chalk mural with Brooklyn Emerging Mural Artists Coalition. @brooklynemac is committed to offering opportunities (and walls) to up and coming artists to create public works.

@stevedollas will be there for his Portraits For The People project, taking a beautiful portrait of you for free!

Come celebrate under the shuttle on October 18th. Art, music, food, friends… a little trash pick-up!! *RSVP at the link in bio*

Shuttle Friends started to improve the spaces along the Franklin Ave S line this summer. We’ve been cleaning streets, meeting neighbors, and dreaming up ideas with you about how these areas could become a beloved public space.

We want to say THANK YOU, so come celebrate this unique little train at our party on Prospect Place under the shuttle tracks October 18th from 12-3:30pm.

Music from @alegbaandfriends, local food, art from @brooklynemac and @fieldmeridians, and more activities to be announced!

The incredible illustrator/historian Phil Coppola will be there talking shuttle history and showing off his hand drawn prints. Come hang out, we’ll even pick up a little trash while we’re at it.💪🗑️💃

We’re making a big community mural at June Balloon 2026!!! 🎈 🎨

Join us on Saturday, May 16, from 12:30-2:30pm at @anotherworldbk for a workshop to brainstorm and create the design for the mural as a community. Bring memories and pictures of June Balloons past, as well as stories about your block: what makes it special? what are some hidden histories people don’t know about?

@brooklynemac will lead the workshop and create a design based on community input, with paint-by-numbers panels. At June Balloon, on June 20, attendees can color in the mural (materials will be provided) and produce an amazing piece of collective artwork :)

One of the highlights of my year was completing this 8 ft x 8 ft mural for the “Love & Matter” wall in Crown Heights on Pacific St. between Grand Ave. & Classon Ave., organized by @brooklynemac. This is my fourth mural in Brooklyn, but the first I designed and painted completely solo. Painting on corrugated metal is not easy. Painting during 90 degree summer days is not easy. Painting while the entire neighborhood watches you is not easy. But I find these types of projects to be the most rewarding as an artist. One neighbor walked by and said “thank you for making our neighborhood beautiful.” And to that I say, thank you for letting me 🌺
