thoughts from the past few:
why does pain often have to be the biggest emotional propeller to create something great. thinking back to many great works of art, most of them come from the artist’s expression of some form of pain they are enduring- death, grief, heartache, sickness, questioning. it is great art stemmed from non-great moments. why is that? perhaps we only truly pay attention to our emotions and outpoor them when they are “ungreat”. what if our greatest work should actually stem from the unexplainable great feelings within us. what if we dealt with and celebrated joy as if it were of the same importance as sadness. culture sometimes applauds and honors people’s grief and “ungreat” moments and labels people who celebrate their wins as pride and boasting. what if these artists’ work were only their best work because they chose to only create in or from their sadness. perhaps their greatest work could have come from the stem of their best moments and most blissful joys. current pain and sadness should not produce art that outperforms overwhelming zeal for the Lord. God’s greatness within you should always outshine your deepest sorrows. our God may drench us with grief, but he is faithful to refresh us with mercy.
