Helping People Help People

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

We’re always building the army and what an incredible group of #HELPERS we’ve had in our presence for training this week! First Responders, Military and Veterans, Child Advocacy Champions, Mental Health Professionals and Support, Peer Support and Recovery, Faith Leaders, Volunteers, Board Members, Coalition Leaders - they showed up.
What a gift it always is for us to be with and meet those doing the work - the boots on the ground people - those walking the talk, the people who do what they say they will. There are many who tell you what they’ll do, but then they don’t do it. These are not those people - they truly meet people where they are, and•they•help. Watching them strengthen their skills was beautiful… they are so much HOPE for the world around them.

Finishing up some work for Year 4 of providing this program in the same beautiful location. Can’t wait to hear those kiddos shout out their #LifeProtectors, though I’m also looking forward to hearing what’s stressing them out in their world right now.
There’s nothing better than delivering programming you believe in - other than watching people use it to help themselves and others, of course.
In case no one has told you…
I hope you Have A Nice Day.
❤️ Chelle

Just a worn out girl from giving herself away to the world (for an entire month!) and a rescue that’s so dang glad to have her home. Chelles a little under the weather due to her immunity issues (and under a dog in this picture) but Miss LouCee is determined to love her back to health by not leaving her alone for a single second. Both beings in this picture have been touched by God and we are all so glad she’s home for a little bit! I love you and am proud of you @the.michelle.toman!! #livinglifewithintention #helpingpeople #warrior #wonderwoman #gooddog @brotherupsister

Looking forward to increasing our impact as we share the message of this most important and meaningful work across our country. Thankful to be in this beautiful place this week! What an incredible city to wrap up 2 years worth of our very intentional efforts. We’ve pumped out some of our greatest works while working across our country in this mission… these academies and summits have been truly special and I know this week will be more of the same of that. A break last night to stop and appreciate where our feet are was much needed; the conversations and interactions with strangers were simply amazing.
Cheers to the years behind AND ahead of us being Keepers of Life.
May the days - and especially the efforts ahead - bring more diligent prevention to our Veterans, Service Members and their Families.
Like Paul Revere - we are planning a little good rebellion. 💪

One of the best parts of being in an AirBnB {{while working on the road}} with my friend, is us making breakfast for dinner. We’re carrying out some amazing programming this week - and though the content isn’t easy, it is highly important.
Breakfast food always makes me feel better about the world around me… and eggs have been comfort to me since I was a little girl. Seems silly but it isn’t.

Putting these into the hands of kids never gets old. Mental Health is REAL and how we talk to ourselves matters. Our feelings are OUR feelings and they matter… but when we’re not okay we need to remember feelings aren’t facts, they’re feelings… and there are things we can do to help us help ourselves.

Here’s a fact from the founders of @keepers.of.life — had we learned when we were children to #NameItToTameIt, we could’ve navigated the lives we were living a little easier. Helping other youth through our upstream programming, has been an incredible way to create a shift for today’s youth who are growing up in a hard and sometimes not very understanding world.

Grateful to have gotten a little time with this beautiful human and fellow loss survivor in Atlanta. She has certainly made a difference in her state (and across the nation) when it comes to supporting bereaved individuals. Sometimes the most beautiful relationships come as a result of the most difficult circumstances… this is one of those.
Though we were both on hand to provide experience from our experiences, this particular day was Denise’s Birthday - her 60th - a big, big, big deal! But here she was was, instead of celebrating herself, showing up for others even in the midst of her own hard stuff. It takes special people to do that and to do this work from a place of deep pain. I am so very blessed to call her my friend.
[ D - Robbie would’ve been so proud of you for showing up… and so would your beautiful boy. You remain in my prayers sis.]

Nothing like a puddle jumper and a snow plow on a Monday morning to get your heart pumping!
Grateful to be headed south to do incredibly meaningful work this week.

Remember when you were a kid & there was suuuuuuch #GOODstuff on the back of the cereal box?!
Today I am grateful for @cheerios - for many reasons, but especially because of THIS!
“At Cheerios, we believe tiny gestures can brighten someone’s day. Affirmations are a small way to care for yourself or someone you love. We’re cheering for you - to be your happy and healthy self - with some tasty Os and encouraging words. You’ve got this!” Then it goes on to tell you to pick one of these affirmations (or write your own) AND PRACTICE IT TODAY. (With instructions/ideas on how.)

To some, this may not seem like a big deal… to me and what I do in the world around me - suicide prevention, intervention and postvention grief support (of all kinds of grief) - affirmations are a HUGE deal when dealing with the heavy, hard and difficult things or circumstances of life. Affirmations CAN change things and HELP US cancel out that negative dialogue we have with ourselves.

To the folks @cheerios …
Thank you - from my heart - for helping us take care not only of our body and physical health, but also our minds! My “bottom of the box” message today goes to YOU for going the extra mile for those of us consuming your products. (And please keep the Happy Heart shaped Cheerios coming, even though I know that’s an extra thing for you to have to do. Some of us truly appreciate it.)

We all have the potential to make this world a better place with our efforts. What are you doing today???
