What are the odds you marry another Brown student? The Brown Marriage Pact is a campus-wide matchmaking event where undergrads discover the name of their scientifically optimal “marital backup plan” out of everyone on campus. The first annual Brown Marriage Pact took place in early February, distributing results to more than 3,000 students—but these were only the most recent among 600,000 participants at 100 schools across the country. The Data Science Institute is pleased to invite the Brown community to join us for an evening with Liam McGregor, the Founder and CEO of the Marriage Pact. This talk will share insights into the data science behind the Marriage Pact—and what lessons it has uncovered about love, going viral, and our deeper human nature, along the way. Register now [link in bio] for this lecture and conversation with Liam McGregor and Sohini Ramachandran, the Founding Director of the Data Science Institute. Liam McGregor is the Founder & CEO of the Marriage Pact. He stewarded the college tradition’s rise from his dorm room to 100 campuses across the United States. His work has been covered in more than 200 news articles, from The Today Show to The New York Times. Along the way, his team has launched viral apps that exploded across college campuses, published viral videos garnering 50 million views, and raised $5M in funding from Bain Capital Ventures and Nobel Laureates. He’s even responsible for nine (known) marriages. Before this, Liam was on the early team at Luminar Technologies, a self-driving car company he helped scale from $80M to $800M, and he worked in data science at Microsoft. He graduated from Stanford, where he studied computer science and economics. #brownuniversity #brownmarriagepact #marriagepact #stanfordmarriagepact #datascienceinstitute #matchmaking
