We speak on Darnell’s reading journey, from fantasy, veering into black and queer representation within media. Check the link in my bio for some of the essays and books Darnell sent over to me, if you’re interesting in reading further🤙 PEACE!

Raw and unfiltered footage from our debut at @club.colette 🎥

The wonderful @brumindigo captured this amazing footage for us and we thought we’d present it to you in its rawest format to really showcase the organic essence of what was a special night.

To all of the amazing people who joined us that night and put faith in us to provide a wonderful evening for you, thank you from the bottom of our hearts ❤️

Making a debut at a venue is a daunting thing because you never know how it’s going to be received or whether many people will show up but we were honestly blown away with how the night went.

To everyone at Club Colette, thank you for your hard work and hopefully we’ll be back soon 🫡

Oh and btw… next event announcement is incoming 👀 eyes peeled!

Friday 4th September, @blkcurrent debuts our first shubz at @pan_pan_______. 🧑🏾‍🐰‍🧑🏽🎵

THE LINK UP is about taking it back to the house parties, the attic shubz of Handsworth, and the spaces where community came first. When it was about music, movement and the people in the room. 🕺🏽

Expect jungle, UK garage, dancehall and the sounds that raised us.

FREE ENTRY — because community shouldn’t have barriers. 🆓

Powered through the community-built sound system by @hoodfutures.studio × @eachoneteachone.ecosystem. A party built in the community, by the community, for the community.

Attention all baddies, beauties and dancers! 👀

We’re taking it back to where dance and the SHUBZ have always belonged, with the people. 🕺👯

When all we had was an attic, a sound system and a dream. Back to music, movement, energy and connection.

The Link Up is a space to come together, catch a vibe, create culture, reclaim the meaning of shubz, but most importantly, DANCE. 🪩

Whether you’ve been whining and dancing for years, you’re just starting out, there’s a place for you at The Link Up.

So bring your mandem, gyaldem and community.

Bring your energy.

Bring yourself.

Because this isn’t just a dance…

This is The Link Up. 🔗
