There is Power and Magic in Theater

There is a power in theater that is indescribable to most. A spell that is cast on the stage when the actors, for the very first time, are clad in costume and come onstage.

You stand a little straighter. You hold your hands more still. Your eyes cease to dart from every detail in the room and begin to hone in on your scene partner, a detail that tells a story, or a choice made by another actor.

You no longer speak your lines to another actor; you begin to speak to their soul, and it is answered with just as much, if not more. The confidence, the fear, the love, the hate. It's all there, all real.

This transformative magic is unlike any other we can conjure in our minds, because we are no longer just reading words on a page. We inhabit a world crafted for us. We live that world. We breathe it.

And then comes the audience.

Walking onstage for the first time after the curtain rises to a silent crowd, ready to hang on your every word. Every neck craned to get the best sight line, every ear tuned to hear each and every syllable. And for a brief moment, you control the crowd like no one can.

And then you speak. The story begins.

There is a palpable difference that even four or five audience members can make compared to an empty room during rehearsal. You move differently, you speak louder, you are more.

And at its close, you step once more onstage to thunderous applause that would move all but the most deaf of hearts. You bow to the audience, and then you step offstage at night's end.

You look at the darkened and empty stage and fondly smile, saying,

"I'll see you tomorrow."

Today we open "A Midsummer Night's Dream" which has rapidly become a favorite in my pantheon of productions I've been a part of.

Come weary traveler, stay, and listen a while

We’ve been doing so many fun photoshoots in the studio lately so of course I had to post one of my favorites from last Fall with Anastasia! It is fun to see how far the studio has come in just a few months!

📸📸 April Workshop Crew 📸📸

It was an absolute pleasure to host this full class of women photographers!! It’s a different vibe when friends take a class together 🥰.

We stressed them out with a challenge to start the class 😂, and then watched light bulbs go off as we explained and learned together. Such a great class with amazing energy!!

Last month we had an attendee bring their Mom, and this month we had Unc with us! Such a treat.

We are growing, learning, adapting and creating this workshop to meet YOUR needs! Make sure you take advantage 👀😊.

Registration is open for our May Workshop! Link in bio.
