Still buzzing from the grand reopening of Seymour Shaw! 🏏⚽️🥳

Check out some of the snaps from day as well as some@shots of the facilities at both day and night. 📸

This upgrade is the result of years of work and collaboration with our sporting clubs like @mirandamagpiesfootballclub @mirandamagpies_netball and @mirandamagpiescricketclub as well as associations @shirefootball @cricketnsw and @sutherlandshirenetballassoc

Thank you to Council’s project team and our contractors @glascott_landscape for their incredible work and to the mural artists @mulgatheartist @brunomota and @merindahfunnell who’ve made the space so beautiful.

For me this has been a labour of love, starting back in 2019 when I first called for a Masterplan for the site, through to construction of the skate park, car park, pedestrian crossing, roundabout and now the sporting fields.

A very proud moment and a great day for our community!

What did the community think of Seymour Shaw Park’s grand opening?

We handed over the mic and let locals do the talking.

While the fields are now closed as the new turf establishes, we’re looking forward to seeing the precinct in action this summer. ☀️

What a way to welcome Seymour Shaw Park’s next chapter. 🙌

We couldn’t have asked for a better grand opening and want to thank everyone who joined us to celebrate and experience everything the precinct has to offer.

Now that the celebrations are over, the fields are taking a short break while the new turf establishes itself ahead of the summer sport season. We appreciate everyone’s patience while the grass settles in and gets game-ready. ☀️⚽🏏

Today was the opening of Seymour Shaw Park! 🎉

I’m incredibly proud to have been part of this project and to have had the opportunity to work alongside so many amazing people, including all the talented artists, the Sutherland Shire Council team, and everyone involved in bringing this vision to life.

What a special day! Seeing the community come together and celebrate made all the hard work worthwhile.

I really hope this colourful mural brings joy, energy and inspiration to all the kids, families and everyone who visits the park for years to come. 💙🎨☀️

Colours of Play

This mural celebrates community, culture and sport, reflecting the important role Seymour Shaw Park plays as a place where people come together to play, watch, exercise and connect.
Designed as a journey across four interconnected sections, the artwork brings together elements of local life including community spaces, skate culture, cricket, soccer, tennis, basketball, native flora and fauna, bushland and the coastline.
Through vibrant colours and a dynamic composition, the artwork aims to create an energetic and welcoming landmark for the community. As a permanent part of the park, it is intended to inspire connection, celebrate local identity and bring a sense of pride to those who experience it.

DEVASTATED. Not what I was expecting to see.

I stopped by a mural I created for Old School Park in Gymea, I was planning to take some photos, but found it tagged. Really disappointed.
Hopefully it can be restored soon.
