I recently came across @eileengu ‘s speech about the huge role of Sport & the confidence that comes with and I cannot agree more with her words

I started gymnastics as a baby

my dad was my trainer until I got picked to be part of a competitive team

I competed most of my life & became a national champion at 13yo

gymnastics wasn’t only just for me the school of life, it also saved me in many ways

finding my why and having a purpose got me through the darkest times of my life

I wouldn’t be the person I am today without it

I wouldn’t have achieved all the things I have without it

as someone who aspires to have kids of my own, there is no doubt that I will get them involved in a sport as well

the power of DELAYED GRATIFICATION :

after 1 day at the gym, you’ll see nothing

after 2 days at the gym, you’ll see nothing

after a few weeks, you’ll notice some slight changes but nothing mind blowing

after a year or hard work & consistency, you could look like a whole different person

moral of the story : keep showing up, even on those days where you don’t feel like it because it all adds up

building your body TAKES TIME : trust the process, stick to the plan & stay consistent

and lastly : FALL IN LOVE with the process of getting the thing rather than the thing itself

this morning I came cross a post about Eric Dane’s last words, where he shared to his daughters 4 lessons he’s learned from the disease that took his life a couple of days ago

in all honesty, I resonated with all 4 but one of them in particular

"fall in love"

not necessarily with a person, but with something

he emphasized the importance of finding your why, your passion, your purpose, the importance of finding that thing that makes you wanna get up every single day and sets a fire in you, that thing that will help you to get through these tough moments/days/times & seasons of your life
