@bryan.meee is loving his new Nepenthes ventrata! It's doing swell in the location it's in, and it's looking Gorgeous with a capital G! Nepenthes are an easy plant to care for and add a little pizzazz to anyone's collection! All of the carnivorous plants available come with a care sheet, but I do want to reiterate they're not a tough plant to care for! They're just a little different. The top things to remember with carnivores are:
1. Distilled, Rain, Reverse Osmosis, or Dehumidifier water ONLY! No tap, well, or bottled water- the minerals are what we are trying to avoid.
2. Water level- Nepenthes want to stay moist, like a fern. When they get to the moisture level of a rung out sponge, water again. Other carnivores need to be sitting in water at all times!
3. Lighting- nepenthes are an exception among most carnivorous plants. They don't want full, blazing sun like venus flytraps or American pitcher plants do. They need bright, indirect light. Bright inside, a shady spot outside.

Want one for yourself? Come find me this weekend at the Pittsburgh Mega Reptile Expo in Monroeville at the Convention Center! Large nepenthes, like the one pictured, are limited, but I just got a large shipment of 2 inch Nepenthes lowii x ventricosa! Venus flytraps and sundews will also be available.

Steel City Scales will also be at my table, so be sure to stop by to look at plants, crested geckos, microfauna, and ready-to-go bioactive tanks!

See you soon!
