Rousing from another long IG winter to giddily reveal that IDOLS, a short film I produced and which has occupied a big chunk of my life for the past year and change, will have its World Premiere at the 30th Fantasia International Film Festival in Montreal next month.

This K-pop-themed home invasion thriller comes from the demented mind of writer-director Matt Halsall and stars the chameleonic Hojo Shin in the dual roles of a desperate aspiring idol and the screen siren whose door she knocks on. Physical and psychological bedlam ensues.

Huge thanks to Samansa for trusting us to put this together and enormously grateful to the many talented collaborators who worked tirelessly with us to make this a reality (listed below), many of whom I’ll be singling out in the weeks to come with the fruits of my additional duties as on-set photographer (the many hats of indie producing).

Also delighted to reveal that Matt and I will be on the ground at Fantasia (@fantasiafestival) Jul 20-27 to beat the drum for IDOLS and its feature adaptation, fresh from the NAFF project market in Bucheon.

🌋 Bali ~ To be back here again & this time blessing my mums stones in a waterfall 🙏🏻 & our script under a volcano. This place always reminds me to breathe ( which I need to do more of ) & how important balance is. It brings a focus & creative centering. Such a special heart beat in this place. Grateful 🙏🏻

Hard to put into words the past few months …

I came back to 🇦🇺 to help my dad pack up our family home and help him move into a new beginning by the beach. It isn’t for the faint hearted. At times brutal having to pack up my mums things but also it was very healing. She left so many letters and going through 40 + years of history in one house. Sometimes we forget where we started…….

During this time I have been balancing crazy hours overseas working on my next 🎞️ 🎥. It has been one of the most cathartic, raw projects I have ever done and seeing the vision come to life with the amazing team surround us. Grateful.

✈️ Now heading back to 🇺🇸 to continue this journey. #artimmateslife #wts #creator #writer #producer #artisticdirector #familia

‘Art imitates life’ 🎞️ 🖤

This project has literally taken me across continents via travel & zoom, especially over the past year 🇦🇺 🇺🇸 🇫🇷 🇩🇪 🇹🇹 🇮🇩 🇻🇳 🇰🇷

Working our asses off to see it come to life.

It is one of the most cathartic experiences I have ever had.

Pouring my soul into this script & visual concept…

And now seeing it form from paper to screen.

Putting a film together is a massive process both in business & creative.

But I’m so grateful to my team that continues to grow, who have supported my vision & believe in it’s path…

The people you surround yourself with are the family you chose…

Behind the creation is talented beings, who bring the puzzle pieces together.

‘In darkness let us see light’ 🖤
