Look at this group of amazing people!

Adoptees who came out to witness Jesse Jae Hoon’s SAVED — a play about the history of Korean American adoption, about Holt, about the lives the official story never accounted for.

There is a particular kind of recognition that happens when adoptees gather in the audience of an adoptee story. No one has to explain why they came. No one has to translate what the play is doing. The understanding is already in the room.

For many adoptees, history was something done to us before we had the language to ask about it. To sit in an audience where that history is finally being told by one of our own, on a stage, with care is its own kind of homecoming. Not the homecoming of resolution. The homecoming of being seen.

This is the community Writing the In-Between was built for.

The writers who have been carrying stories no one taught them how to tell. The ones who have been waiting for a room that already understands. The ones who are ready to stop translating themselves on the page.

Six weeks. Online. Memoir, fiction, and poetry. Co-facilitated by @jessejaehoon and @kaylakimvotapek, two adoptee writers building a container for the writers whose stories have been waiting.

For adoptees, mixed-race and multicultural writers, and anyone whose story has lived in the space between worlds.

No prior writing experience required.
The next cohort is forming.
