Humbled. Feeling grateful and quiet. Thank you @virginieboone and @jebdunnuck for this advocacy of our region. So many of the growers and producers have thought we are doing something really special in this place and it feels so sweet to get that validation. Thank you to our growers, thank you to our club members, and thank you to all the people on this team from top to bottom that play such a significant part in making these wines. These wins are ours to share together! Cheers🥂 We have so many exciting things coming up!

Tenor 2022 La Reyna Blanca Vineyard Chardonnay has been awarded a perfect 100-point score by from wine critic Virginie Boone of JebDunnuck.com, making history as the first dry white wine in Washington to achieve a 100-point score from a major international publication.

“We are thrilled and incredibly humbled by this perfect score for our La Reyna Blanca Chardonnay,” said Bryan Otis, Proprietor of Avallé, which produces Tenor. “We have long believed that the Columbia Valley, with its diverse microclimates and dedicated growers, is entering its golden age of winemaking. This validates years of dedication to expressing the profound potential of Chardonnay from Washington State. To be recognized as the state’s first 100-point white wine from a major publication, particularly from the distinct Royal Slope AVA, is an immense honor and a testament to our team’s passion and the extraordinary fruit from Lawrence Vineyards.”

I’m learning some things about myself as I continue to grow in this field of flowers (see what I did there?). I’m in 22 years and have my hands in a variety of channels, always challenging myself to identify the common thread of what compels me in creativity.

First, without question, it’s relationship. Secondly, it’s beauty. Unassuming, humble, but intentional; ready for depths to be discovered by any curious eye, yet obviously beautiful for the quick glance too.

Beauty and the appreciation of it… doesn’t that perhaps compel us all in the end?

2021 was the first vintage by the new winemaking team at Matthews and Tenor, which has seen changes in winemaking and vineyard management: lower yields, picking later, and longer macerations, yielding rich and concentrated wines from the hot 2021 vintage. Great to taste with head winemaker Alex Stewart, owner Bryan Otis and winemaker Hal Iverson (right to left).
