It being the first music video for me as a musician and one of the first @brycebromberger and I have done for our new company @baddaystudios makes it mean that much more to me.

Huge special thanks to

Sunday morning, I’ve had my coffee at a neighborhood coffee shop here in Echo Park where Micah and I are staying at Bryce, Meg’s, and Nick’s apartment. I was thinking while having my Mocha, how essential it is for me to have new experiences and new stimulations, to always always be doing my best to have that in my life, in my family’s life..

I’m thinking about John Gray’s Memorial Celebration yesterday, of how everyone spoke so movingly about how he helped to develop and build a welcoming community of creative artists over the years, when he was a Photography professor at Moorpark College.

How he nurtured us, advised and challenged us, taught me how to be a critical thinker and to question everything, was always willing and available to talk with me, with all of his students, about my creative roadblocks and he would always respond in a positive way with possible paths and actions to take.

Like many of us, I became part of a family of his former students, who learned to find empathy in our world of much suffering, to through our photography document with our hearts, the compassion that we see by people for others and to shine the light on it.

He showed us that fighting for social justice and to honor the people who do so with our photo essays is profound and powerful, that these works are meaningful and that they leave a lasting impact on the people who view them.

I am part of an extraordinary tribe of creative people, a group who helped me and everyone in the community John Gray helped build, become who we are now and I am filled with a deep and everlasting sense of gratitude.

John Gray's Memorial Celebration -- I'm heading down to Thousand Oaks on Friday morning for John Gray's Memorial Celebration on Saturday, and it will be good to see and reconnect with many of my Moorpark College classmates from my era in the 1970's who I haven't seen in a long time, as we pay our respects to our kind and beloved photography teacher John Gray.

This was the time when things started clicking for me - when I began to gain my confidence and when I realized that I had a unique point of view that had value and was interesting. I had no idea what all that meant and how it would play out, but I realized I had some talent and something to say.

John Gray's influence and mentoring during my college years and for many years afterwards, helped to shape Sandy and my careers along with the creative choices we've made. His deep understanding of the fragile mindset of creative people - how to support them, while also giving out tough feedback which he knew to be support as well - was a steady presence in our lives as we worked on our projects and established our careers.

In 2022, there was a Student Group Show in Simi Valley, where some of John's former students showed several of their photographs, and when his daughter Kyra sent me this clip last night of John talking about my work, I do say, I got a little farklempt.
