We are devastated. Our tiny little shihtzuh pups were attacked in their own backyard yesterday morning. I heard Mochi screaming while making my morning coffee and ran outside to see two pit bulls had broken through the fence, grabbed Mochi by the face, and dragged her through the fence while Bowser tried to help her.

I have never been so sure that my pets were going to die, while I tried everything I could to climb over the fence to get to them. They were horrendously bitten and shaken like they were toys. By the time I finally got them to the safety of my car, I truly was not sure if they would live.

They spent the entire day at the animal hospital and we would like to thank the team at Green Valley Ranch Pet Center for their incredible empathy and the gentle care they provided Bowser and Mochi.

Bowser has a broken jaw that will have to be immediately operated on and he is currently in Fort Collins for his surgery consultation. He can barely eat or drink on his own. He was grabbed and shaken by his mouth and face.

Mochi was extremely lucky that she did not lose her eye, but her bites and wounds are very severe. She is in constant pain and has drains in her wounds to help with infection. These will be removed next week. She is completely traumatized and fears sounds, the backyard, even the back door and windows scare her.

This has been a heartbreaking experience, but we are so incredibly grateful they both survived. The medical costs are staggering and we are begging anyone that has the means and loves animals, to please donate to our gofundme. Yesterday alone cost us $3,000 and we’ve been told that Bowser’s surgery will be around $7,000. These costs don’t include all of the follow up appointments, procedures, and medications that will be part of their recovery.
