Late Happy Birthday, Lenny Bias.. Some years ago Brycon asked if I would be down to do a song about Len Bias. I was like “yep that’d be dope”, but I didn’t have anything in mind really. For those that know, I love writing / rapping about subjects, concepts, stories etc & this seemed liked a challenge to say the least. How do you encapsulate the story of Len Bias in a song? Respectfully, informative & properly paying homage. I was only 12 years old when he passed away. So maybe another year passed & Brycon came with this 3 piece segments of beats for me to marinate on. He told me it would be dope if we made a whole story board & wrote the song together. After another year of writing etc, we started laying down rough drafts & coming with more ideas. We ended up asking the great Mel Waters to see if he was down to do the art work & he blessed us with a beautiful piece. From there the final touches were put together & here it is. Our tribute to the late great Len Bias. “The Promise”, we hope you enjoy.!! @lenbiasforever 🏀❤️‍🩹🕊️
