Update 8/23: big day with friends and family. She made friendship bracelets and a TikTok! Her friend also read her injury book to her for the first time. Brook was able to learn what all injuries she had.. up until that day she wasn’t ready to discuss it. Brook is continuing to sleep well so her body can continue healing. We are still weaning off of pain pump. I’m guessing next day or 2 we will have that pulled. Going to be discussing the mental aspect of that tomorrow. She has to believe she can do this without it. X-rays show she is healing, but we still don’t have much of a time frame of when she will be able to be weight bearing. So many prayers it’s sooner than later. I close my eyes daily and envision her beautiful toes touching the floor again. Day 2 of going downstairs in her wheelchair. Today was a little less and she seemed more tired but was still about to do it. 💗
Weekends for Brooky have been amazing bc of the support from family and friends. She truly thrives physically and mentally with their additional support. Weeks tend to be a little tougher, but we are set and have some bigs goals for this week. Please send all the prayers for less pain, more movement of her pelvis/hips/legs, ease of belly pain so she can get enough protein and calories to start weaning off the feeding tube. Tomorrow is a new day. 🙏🏻❤️‍🩹 #brooklynnestrong #sheisthestorm

Update 8/21: today started out with less pain which was so great. No change on pain meds but tomorrow we will continue tapering down on pain pump. We did not get PT done today bc of a full body X-ray which absolutely wiped her out by the afternoon and didn’t want to push her body anymore physically or mentally. Tomorrow is a new day with doing PT and getting in her wheelchair.
We did not results back from Ortho on X-rays and hoping to hear in the morning. I told Brook we WILL hear good news and they will show her strong body is healing. This will also give us a good benchmark on a timeframe of when she can be weight bearing. Please pray for strength tomorrow in PT, positive thoughts, and good news on her X-ray results. One day at a time. 🙏🏻❤️‍🩹 Update 8/22: Brook woke up with lots nausea and ended up throwing up some of the formula. We paused feeds this morning for a bit and she was able to tolerate a few bits of an açaí bowel. Huge for her. Unfortunately feeds were turned back on and again her stomach hurt really bad this afternoon. Going to work with doctors to try to figure out a better plan for her so she can start eating and drinking.
She had an amazing day with friends and family. We used the lift to get her into her wheelchair and was able to go to main floor of the hospital for about 45 mins. During that time she was able to slowly use her arms to wheel her own wheelchair. Even though it was for like a minute it was absolutely amazing. The strength and determination was so prevalent on her face. At that point I saw a different Brooky. OUR daughter, the FIGHTER!
I know this road is not straight and will have so many bumps and turns, but at that moment I was happy. Happy for her, happy for all of us that have been by her side for the past 4 weeks. She needed it, we needed it. Please CONTINUE to pray for healing, strength, and courage for our baby girl. ❤️‍🩹🙏🏻 #brooklynnestrong #sheisthestorm
