Dear future me,

Today, I graduated from the illustrious North Carolina Central University with my Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences.

Before anything else, I have to give all glory, honor, and thanks to God. There is no way I could have made it through this journey on my own. Every late night, every challenge, every setback, every accomplishment, and every moment of growth was covered by His grace.

I hope wherever you are in life, you never forget this version of yourself, the one who kept going even when things felt uncertain. The one who stayed disciplined, continued to serve, continued to lead, and trusted God even when the future wasn’t clear.

I hope you remember the sacrifices, the prayers, the tears, the leadership roles, the research, the community service, and every moment that shaped you into the woman you are becoming. I hope you remember how hard you worked to get here. This degree is more than an accomplishment it’s a testimony.

And if life ever feels overwhelming again, come back to this moment. Remember that God brought you through before, and He will do it again. Remember that you were always capable of becoming everything you prayed for.

With grace and gratitude,

At just 19 years old, I’m honored to celebrate graduating from North Carolina Central University as a 4.0 honor student and valedictorian. In only two years, I earned my bachelor’s degree after already completing my associate’s degree—a journey that took discipline, resilience, and a strong sense of purpose, all through the grace of Jesus Christ.

This achievement is only the beginning. My next step is starting my career with the Durham Police Department while continuing my education toward a Master of Science in Criminal Justice.

I’m thankful for God’s guidance every step of the way, and I look forward to all that’s ahead with faith, purpose, and determination.

I’m proud of you.

You kept showing up, even when you were tired, even when things felt uncertain. You chose discipline over comfort, growth over fear, and purpose over doubt. You didn’t always have it figured out, but you never stopped trying.

And now look at you. Not just graduating, but becoming. Throughout this journey, I didn’t just earn a degree, I built a foundation through leadership, service, and purpose:

• Undergraduate Student Researcher
• President of the Worship and Praise Inspirational Gospel Choir
• President of Beta Beta Beta Biological Honor Society
• Undergraduate Advocate for the HBCU STEMulUS
• SNMA Region IV Pre-Med Representative (North)
• University Honors Scholar
• SNMA Region IV Access to Excellence Research Scholarship Recipient
• Focus Group Research Coordinator
• Academic Biology Tutor (University College)
• Deans List
• 500+ Hours of Community Service

Every role, every opportunity, every late night added to who I am today. And I’m not done yet. Future physician in the making.

In Truth and Service,

Dear younger me,

I know you didn’t always believe in yourself the way you should, and that’s okay. You’re still figuring things out. You’re still learning what it means to trust yourself, to stay disciplined, and to keep going even when things feel uncertain. There are going to be nights where you feel overwhelmed, moments where you question if you’re doing enough, and times where you feel like everyone else is ahead of you. But I need you to hear me, you are not behind.

Everything you’re going through right now is shaping you. The pressure, the doubt, the hard classes, the responsibilities you’re trying to balance… it’s all building the strength and resilience you’re going to need. You’re going to grow into someone who shows up, even when she’s tired. Someone who leads, even when she feels unsure. Someone who walks into rooms she once thought she didn’t belong in, and owns her place there.

You’re going to learn how to balance it all. Your academics, your responsibilities, your passions, and still find a way to keep going. And one day, you’re going to sit in a moment like this and realize that every single step mattered. So be patient with yourself. Give yourself grace. Stay consistent, even when it feels like it’s not paying off yet. Trust God, trust the process, and trust who you’re becoming.

Because one day, you’re going to look back at this version of you and smile… knowing that she kept going, and that’s exactly what got you here.
