FROM BABCOCK TO THE TOP!

We are bursting with pride and joy as we celebrate one of our own, Dr. Nwangwa Uzonna on his well-deserved recognition as one of the 100 Most Notable African CEOs!

A 2008 Religious Studies graduate, Dr. Uzonna took the values of integrity, service & faith from Babcock and built Irvin Global & Investment Group; a financial powerhouse that grew from 1 office to 30+ branches, empowering thousands across Nigeria.

From 15,000+ POS terminals as a banker to leading a multi-branch institution, his journey proves that with vision, courage & faith, success is achievable !

I’m excited to be presenting two of my research abstracts at the ongoing International Cancer Week 2026, organised by the @nicratgov at Abuja.

1. From Data to Policy: Building an Integrated Cancer Intelligence System for Evidence-Driven and Equitable Cancer Control in Nigeria.

2. From Exposure to Prevention: Prioritising Modifiable Environmental, Household and Lifestyle Risk Factors for Cancer Prevention in Nigeria.

The theme, “United Against Cancer,” resonates deeply with me. Cancer requires more than clinical care. It demands scientists, clinicians, policymakers, public health experts, communities and innovators working together to turn evidence into action.

I was particularly glad to share the Cancer Intelligence solution my team at @blueozonehealth are building with Prof. Usman Aliyu , Director-General, NICRAT, exploring how it could complement ongoing cancer intelligence and registry efforts.

I also had the opportunity to engage with Dr. Usman Waziri Mohammed, Director of Cancer Prevention and Control, NICRAT, on strengthening prevention and control efforts.

Nigeria has the expertise and institutional capacity to make significant progress in cancer prevention, care and control. I’m grateful to contribute to that journey, and excited about what collaboration can make possible.

From data to intelligence. From evidence to policy. From policy to prevention.
