A little over a month ago, I stepped away from my role as Manager at BUA Smithfield, and now that I’ve had some time to look back, I can honestly say I feel incredibly grateful and proud of the last three years.

I started at BUA as a coach, then had the opportunity to become Manager, and being part of the journey has been something I’ll always be thankful for.

Seeing the gym move into a bigger and better space, creating a more comfortable environment for our members, and watching the community grow to almost twice the size it was when I started is something that makes me incredibly happy.

I truly believe I gave everything I had to the role — as a coach, as a manager, and as a teammate.

A huge thank you to Jamie for always believing in me and giving me the opportunity to grow, and to every coach and team member who shared this journey with me. You all taught me something along the way and played a part in my growth, both professionally and personally.

There are way too many names to mention, and I’d definitely forget someone, but please know that I’m genuinely grateful to every single person who worked with me and supported me over these three years.

And, of course, a massive thank you to all the members who trusted me, supported me and allowed me to be part of your journey.

Life goes on, new challenges begin, and I’ll still be around for the occasional class — so this isn’t a goodbye. ❤️

Just a big thank you.

I’m proud of what we built, grateful for the people I met along the way, and excited for what comes next.

Thank you, BUA Smithfield. ❤️

Criteria for training here has nothing to do with what you’re currently capable of …

Age changes the starting point, rate of adaptation, recovery needs and training prescription. It does not remove the capacity to improve.

See you on the gym floor 🫡💙

For a long time, fitness has been separated into two categories: health related fitness and skill or performance related fitness.

The new ACSM (American College of Sports Medicine) model removes that split.

Because agility and balance aren’t just for athletes. Power isn’t only useful for sporting performance.

These qualities affect how well we function, how confidently we respond to the world around us and how capable and independent we remain as we age.

It’s why we’ve always trained these qualities at Bua, not because everyone wants to be an athlete, but because everyone benefits from being more athletic.

The things that help you perform better are also part of what keeps you healthy.

Hawt Take 🔥

Chasing numbers, leads to chasing numbers, leads to … nothing in particular 🤷🏼‍♂️

There’s something amazing about trying to master movement, & about continually learning about your body
