So grateful to @jupitrstudios @thelawrencehallofscience and the many many talented folks who worked on creating this educational and interactive space to teach about the Future of Food. It’s still up, go see it at UC Berkeley’s science center @thelawrencehallofscience 💡

So cool - the MUDE design museum in Lisbon went through a renovation recently and now they have these big beautiful portraits of the construction team who put so much care into making it what it is. Great concept and great execution! Reminds me of a 2019 project we did with @sfmoma @ryanschude @dylanhosey to honor the creative practices of SFMOMA staff through a live art event and portraits. I do believe that everyone who contributes matters…!

Quick intro for new followers! I’m Laura. I’ve lived in SF 19 years. I run a small design studio @buddybuddystudio focusing on physical brand, like events and lobby installations. Repeat clients include Pinterest, Airbnb, Dropbox, Obvious Ventures, UC Berkeley, Alchemy Springs, and Jupitr Studios. I also love to build and lead communities (think border collie not quarterback) and have been doing that my whole career. This might mean starting events for clients (such as Pinterest’s internal conference or a new meetup series for an event venue), curating creative work with a community focus (I ran two photography magazines in the past, both based on community submissions), or getting employees to work together on creating their office culture and environment. I’ve also been studying Reiki for the last seven years, and I teach and practice it at @reikipatio. Reiki is a healing practice from Japan that has a powerful calming effect on the nervous system. I could talk to you for a long time about the parasympathetic nervous system. I also study herbalism, meaning ancient and natural remedies. The healing arts are endlessly interesting to me. Ok the info you really wanted to know: why do I have so many IG followers? Because I joined Instagram on the third day it existed, and at that time I was already a big part of the online photo community. I hosted an annual creative retreat called Phoot Camp for top emerging photographers that was quite reliable for eye candy. I also frequently traveled internationally as my then-husband and I were popular choices for design conference speakers at that time. Now, Instagram is different and the algorithms reward different behavior, and that’s why I don’t get tons of likes or comments despite my large follower count. Anything else? Welcome and ask me anything. 🤗 (Shown here hosting an event series at Alchemy Springs, one of my favorite venues and anchor clients.)

New portfolio website! So excited about the team I have right now and the value we can offer for world-class physical brand design. Events, office branding, print collateral — design you can touch. Schedule a call at the link in bio!

On view at the UC Berkeley @lawrencehallofscience now: Future of Food. Huge thanks to @jupitrstudios for bringing me/@buddybuddystudio in to lead the graphic design of 100+ pieces for this interactive exhibit, and to the ace team I was able to put together, including @studio___kaki and @fabulousrice. Based on the way my own kids reacted, I’m sure the hard work (from the dozens of people who supported this giant effort) will help shape our relationship to food as a culture. Really proud to have been a part of it. ☺️☺️☺️
