BEST PUBS IN GREATER MANCHESTER: PART ONE:

These are all pubs that i would happily go and sit in to while away an hour. All stunning pubs but I saved the best seat in the city for the last slide.

We’re so lucky to have all these - we should make sure we use them.

NOW THAT’S WHAT I CALL A DAY OUT!

Josie insisted on making it over to a Bank Holiday football match, although not before stopping off at @sureshotbrewtap and @buffetbarstalybridge !

Both venues are well deserving of their glowing reputations; less could be said for Stalybridge Celtic, who succumbed to a 0-4 home loss to Atherton Collieries. Mind you, great pies.

Sometimes you just need a pork and chilli pie with mustard. Magnificent.

Part 2 : down @buffetbarstalybridge ( see previous post ) … I tried two great beers a fab stout from local Mossley brewery @millstonebrewery and a really refreshing Earl Grey IPA from @shinybrewery … some pretty good beers here !

Meanwhile they were selling mystery books for the charity @rainbowtrustcc which supports seriously ill children and their families …mum popped hers in her bag and I just had to open mine it looks pretty good !

P.S in case you didn’t know my hubby is one of the founders of a brewery and I have turned into a beer snob ! This is my new favourite place!

PSA: @buffetbarstalybridge has a gluten free tap takeover and tomorrow is your last day to check it out. 15+ GF beers on cask and tap 🤯

Hopefully we’ll see more spots doing this!

I'd be lieing if I told you the the majority of my reasons for visiting Stalybridge were not the pub on the platform that is the Buffet Bar. With 3 teams in Khalsa, Darlaston and Chasetown nearby me all having games against Celtic this season it was inevitable I'd make the trip eventually to see the grand pub...

Pubs on platforms are my achilles heal but the Station itself is actually situated 30 minutes walk away from Celts' Home. Come last match of the season, I'd almost forgot I was making the journey here for the football and subsequently the visit of Chasetown.

After taking in the glorious Victorian style Bar as well as a fair share of Dungen & Durutti Column... (Shazam again working overtime) I thought I'd amble down to Bower Fold in the warm Summer Sun.

I was at the repeat fixture at the Scholars Ground in November (far far colder of course) and it was a great match up of 2 teams going well. Chase have slipped away somewhat given a turbulent management shuffle but Celtic's campaign will now extend beyond this match.

End of season vibes were in full flow here though. Chasetown with nothing to play for, Celtic already secured within that play off picture.

It started at a decent pace but an issue with one ends goalposts here halted play for surely a good half hour in bizarre circumstances.

Sadly very little happened after this with the game stunted. Jack Irlam did nick a goal for the Home side and in doing so rounded off the regular season with a win for the Blues. 1-0.

Still Bower Fold is a cracking little venue for Step 4. Like everywhere else in Manchester, they probably suffer with an obsession with the glitz and glamour of the wealth at top table with nearby City and United to garner more substantial interest but it comes well recommended from me.

Really enjoyed taking part in this afternoon's quiz crafted by club member Joe at Stalybridge Buffet Bar!

The social side is so important to the club - building friendships off the pitch as well as on it.

THE BEST TRAIN STATION PUB IN THE WORLD?

@buffetbarstalybridge is snapshot of a time gone by. When train station buffet bars were on almost every big station Sadly there’s very few left but this place is as good as it gets

Oh.. and it continually wins awards for how good its beer is. What else do you need?
