What’s Inside A Girl: Kristen’s Room 🪭🐚🐈‍⬛

Starting a new series capturing my friends rooms and spaces. I love when a room acts as a museum and reflects the person who curated it.

A hidden gem in the center of Koreatown, vintage clothes and family heirlooms find a new home in Kristen’s closet. She has a glamorous way of bringing a garment to life. No corner left unused, history lies in the clothes and shoes she’s gathered over the years of flea markets and vintage collecting. Precious stones and jewels gather at the vanity like an altar dedicated to beauty and personal style. A cat mom, shopping addict, and woman of the world, Kristen is sunshine personified which is evident in the adornments that make up her room.

I try to live my life in the moment as much as possible. Sometimes that means I forget to take videos with the people I love. So there’s unfortunately some incredible women in my life missing from this video. Had to start with that of course.

It took me a really long time to care about female friendship. I had my best friend and a couple sort of girl friends but… it wasn’t a value to me. I didn’t see the value in it. In fact, I spent much of my life seeing a separation that wasn’t there. “I’m not like those girls. They’re different from me.” Granted, now I know I’m autistic so that was probably a piece of it, but more than anything I had to battle the idea in my head that women were these OTHER creatures that I was never going to be like or get along with. And then one day, it just sort of clicked. I LOVED being around women.

Women understood me like no other. Women held me up when I was stumbling like never before. Adjusted my crown when it needed adjusting. Wiped my tears or cried alongside me. The snort laughs, the late nights, the feeling of truly belonging. Support I’d never experienced. Loving without reason or an expectation. Sure, not all girl friendships are like that, and trust that I’ve had friendships with women who turned out to not be a good fit for me. But it never made me turn away from finding those incredible relationships I have now with so many amazing ladies.

The fellow moms, the boss babes, the CEO girls, the girls who love fashion and makeup, the girls who love science and history, the girls who don’t need a man and the girls who love their husbands. Know that you are so powerful, so beautiful in your own unique way, so capable of anything.

I’m so proud to have you in my life. Thank you for being a part of it.
