Here’s to ⚜️New Orleans⚜️

Over the past 6 years, my family expanded. I worked on so many fun projects, befriended some annoyingly loving people, and adopted my dog Okra. My love to all those pictured and many more I hadn’t had the chance to share a photo with. The world slows down in southern Louisiana. That’s because it wants you to find yourself and I’m so happy I did! If you haven’t had the chance to dig your heels into the swamp, you should seize the first opportunity. Like so many others, I truly believe this town, New Orleanians, and the Cajun and Creole cuisine will challenge your life ideals in the best way. I’ve left the Crescent City for now, but have every intention and reason to return, maybe not as a resident, but as a more complete being and a truer lover of my fellow humans.

At the end of the carousel, you’ll find an excerpt of amateur poetry I wrote about the beauty of New Orleans and the feeling of being a transplant. It’s simply word vomit but also encompasses only a part of my experience. (There’s more, but this part felt relevant for the post)

We met Casey from @bugginoutboils a couple years ago in New Orleans when we hired him to come do a boil at our Airbnb.

About ten minutes in: Did we just become best friends? Yep.

Now we never go to New Orleans without hitting up a Buggin’ Out Pop Up…and the secret sauce is quite literally the butter.

Crawfish are bugs. Lobsters are bugs. Louisiana has theirs, Maine has ours. Nobody needs to fight about which one is better.

Just agree this butter is friggin’ magic.

Garlic, citrus, Cajun spice and absolutely zero reason to use it responsibly.

And good news! You can finally order the butter right from Buggin’ Out.

Impress your friends with little Louisiana on the Maine coast. 🦞⚜️
